RP cannot be increased or decreased by scripts, only one able to affect RP is the player.
RLRP and RP are not the same thing, RLRP keeps you within the boundaries of what is and what is not possible in real life, RP only keeps you to the realms of role play, if I wish to role play a helicopter, then I may role play a helicopter, this does not make me a bad role player, it simply makes me a helicopter.
Looking at various idea boards you often see people saying "give us this script and RP will increase", no it will not, it may enhance the game play, ie. the way players interact with the game, but it will not affect RP in any way.
You will also see some people on the ideas board who will argue against a script simply because it is not needed, although it may improve game play, I have a secret to tell to these people; Scripts are not needed at all.
We do not need scripts to role play, there's been many cases where players have simply role played solely over the public chat and without any scripts, it is very much possible and it makes me sad that I have to even tell you.
Scripts are, as far as I'm concerned, here to improve the way we play the game, for example I do not need the /me command, but sometimes it does help to put emphasis on facial expressions and whatnot.
I do not need /area either but it helps me find people a lot faster.
/m1 /m2 etc are not needed at all, you can simply type it.
Houses? Role-playable.
etc etc.
But what do these scripts do? Give us the opportunity to choose, and as such it improves the way we play the game.
What also concerns me is how as of late everyone seems to be arguing against each others ways of role playing, where has the compromising gone? We used to be very good with accepting people the way they were and the way that they played, we always seemed to meet half way.
But now, it seems players have adopted this kind of "it's either my way or the high way" atmosphere against each other, but what we all seem to have forgotten is that we all play on the same server, we all play together.
You should not shun people away simply because they do not share your view, but learn from each other and you will both have a great time playing.
You can't tell people what they can and cannot do within role play, the only thing you can truly do is show the opportunities available and let the person decide for himself what he wishes to do with what's been presented.
This has been a general rant against the atmosphere and ignorance that's been brewing in our cauldron the last year or two, I'm getting tired of it.
Thank you.
