Title: A Garry's mod server?
Post by: eymas on July 31, 2012, 03:17:11 pm
Today someone asked if there is a Garry's mod server on argonath.
There isn't. but what if we could have one?

Information about the game:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry's_Mod (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry's_Mod)

TL;DR:
Garry's Mod is a sandbox game requiring Half-Life 2 as base. but supports many games.
Since its a sandbox game; you can use the props from any game (Half-life 2. Counter-strike. Team fortress 2) to build many contraptions
The community also boasts a large wide amount of modifications including the famous Wiremod. adding programmable functionality to the game with unlimited possibilities.

Discuss.

That would be cool. I bought Garry's Mod on steam a year and something ago and haven't played that much.

I was thinking exactly the same a few days ago. It's possible, however we need people to script though.

I'm able to script a few things for Gmod, it would be awesome if Gandalf could let someone run it :D

There's no objective in this ''game''. I can't really call it a game because all you do is try to entertain yourself, while the game should be a source of entertainment. I really have never understood why people use Garry's Mod for other purposes than making videos.

That's because you think the only thing you can do is build.

Garry's mod Deathrun (HD) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx8TCeBJ8jA#ws)

Garry's Mod - Ball Race (1080p) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkKSyzdeONY#ws)

Believe it or not, but roleplay servers are popular on gmod.

There are different gamemodes such as fretta(Minigames). TTT(Trouble in Terrorist Town AKA TDM) and more.
There are also roleplay servers in different scenes/settings. and then you have the regular construct.

Its to see whatever floats your boat and is available. There are close to no limits.
There are lots of plugins/mods that add more and more features. One being the popular Wiremod which adds programmability in game for your contraptions.
