The new version of this brilliant mod finally arrived. Let's hope that the managers will update the server as fast as possible.
PS : Dino and Reece, please read the pm I sent to you.

In the past year I did not really expect to write this but well, we are finally releasing the first stable version of IV:MP 0.1.
It has been hard months, not only for the team, but also for the community. IV:MP often stood at the edge of failure but in the end it seems to have all gone well.
Before I want to talk about the new features I would like to thank several people for what they have done:
Cameron: For hosting our servers and being the guy, who always did something if you asked him for.
jenksta: For developing IV:MP for years and creating the base this version now uses. I hope to see you more active in the future, not only as developer, but also as a friend who had a lot of fun with us, not only on the IRC.
adamix: For being our russian guy who might be a bit lazy, but also helped a lot on IV:MP development. Also thanks to you for what you did in the vip IRC chan in order to cheer us up sometimes.
FRi: For saving IV:MP by becoming the new active developer. Without you IV:MP would probably not even exist anymore. Thank you for all.
MiniYoda: For having so many plans which did not always succeed (yet). Anways, thank you for all the parties, girls and for being our legal guy.
The community: For being so patient, for helping us testing and also for commiting your patches to IV:MP. You are the reason this mod is still made so enjoy this release.
Let us talk about IV:MP 0.1 RC1 now. This release ends the mark of support for IV:MP 0.1 Beta 1 and IV:MP 0.1 T3 R2. Please note that both masterlists have been already shut down and it is advised to upgrade to IV:MP 0.1 RC1.
As the changelog from 0.1 Beta 1 to 0.1 RC1 is pretty long it is not included in this post. However you can view the whole changelog by clicking here.
Last but not least the whole team wishes you lots of fun with this new version. Please not that most of your scripts need to be adapted in order to work properly with IV:MP 0.1 RC1. For more information consult our wiki.
Please note that this is a release canditate, which means that this version may still contain bugs, but is usable for the daily use. Also this release canditate does not support serials as Beta 1 did. Please note that this feature will be provided in the upcoming RC2 release. In addition to that, CEGUI bugs may occur as we still need some feedback about it in order to fix everything.
It is also advised to look at the new terms of use, which feature important rules for commercial server hosting.
Any legal questions related to our new terms of use which are sent to us by PM are not going to be answered. Please write us an email instead (adress provided in the license file).
IV:MP 0.1 RC1 (Client)
IV:MP 0.1 RC1 (Windows Server)
IV:MP 0.1 RC1 (Linux Server) - Due to last minute compiling issues it will be provided in the upcoming hours
IV:MP 0.1 Module SDK (R4)
Please note that in order to play IV:MP properly you must have a original copy of GTA IV (unmodded). It is also advised to not use a modified .exe as this will reduce the stability.
These are the following things you'll need to do in order to play IV:MP properly and stable.
Check if GTA IV Patch 1.0.7.0 is installed and GTA IV works properly
Check if Microsoft Visual C 2005/2008 is properly installed (x86 on 32Bit systems or x86 and x64 on 64Bit systems)
Check if you got the latest version of DirectX (If you are not sure just get the newest one from the official site)
Update all your graphics card drivers (NVidia, ATI, Intel,...)
Be sure to have the version of XLive (Games for Windows Live) installed, which was delivered with your GTA IV disc. (If you are not sure you may download the following: http://martinkonrad.square7.ch/Desktop.rar (http://martinkonrad.square7.ch/Desktop.rar))
Check if all Net.Frameworks are installed (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx))
Run IV:MP as Administrator
Disable UAC
If IV:MP crashes at startup may try to use a compatibility mode and replace any spaces to your GTA IV directory with underlines (e.g. C:\GTA IV -> C:\GTA_IV)
If nothing works you may read: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833) and get in contact with the IV:MP development team
-
This means we will be able to play without the game crashing each 10 minutes no matter if it's modded or not? That was the reason why I was never active on IV:MP.
-
Well, they say that they fixed 90% of the common crash reasons.
-
oh God.. what a sweet thing to read on this evening ^^
-
Great to see this has been released, although it may take a couple of days before Argonath itself is updated to the new version so please don't download it just yet.
-
I am aware of that. But I will just stay this excited for the next several days, until Argo uses it :)
OT : How to embedd videos in this forum?
-
Just post the yt link without anything :D
-
I tried new IV:MP.. It seems its even less stable than T3 :( Can't even play for longer than 1 minute before crash. Hopefully this will be fixed in next few days.
-
Good to see. Hopefully our team will have some time to change over soon.
Expect a RS1.x version first, as RS2 will take more time.
-
@The pink dinosaur : Did you use one of the old nightly builds or the build, which was released a few hours ago?
EDIT : I just tried it and the same happens to me and everyone else on the testing server. I hope that that's only a problem of this specific server and not of whole RC 1 :S

For those saying it's unstable, or wondering about mods, the announcement posted above actually clearly says to use an unmodded copy. This may also include mods that are used in order to make IV run faster.
-
Well, I will let Steam redownload the game, just to go sure.

Even with a unmodded version, it does not work. I have an unmodded version and it does not work. Only when joining your own server. Maybe something has yet to be fixed by the ivmp team.

Your own server?
Sounds like something on other servers that is script-related may be causing an issue...
-
Multiple people are crashing on all different servers upon joining. It is not an Ingame Script or Users game issue.
-
Sorry, but I am out of town until Friday, so the server will not be updated to it until Saturday morning at the earliest.
-
Let's hope they fix the problems until Saturday ^^
-
A thing that stood out to me with the new update which means Argonath server will not be on the server list anymore until we update it.
"This release ends the mark of support for IV:MP 0.1 Beta 1 and IV:MP 0.1 T3 R2. Please note that both masterlists have been already shut down and it is advised to upgrade to IV:MP 0.1 RC1."

Fantastic news, i have been waiting this long long time and now im so happy

Can somebody check the masterlist and report the status of the server, as we use t3 R1, not R2.

still working...
-
Oh well never mind that, I opened IV:MP and we are still visible with the current client we are running and displayed on the list with plenty other servers.

SugarD, please read my post again. Then read Devin's again.
There is a difference between the two ;)

You just said to check the master list when IV:MP's announcement specifically states that it is down for that version...
-
I will point it out for you.
we use t3 R1, not R2.

There's a difference as he specifically states R2, when a lot of servers use R1 due to issues with R2.
Although it may use the same list, but it's likely a server restart is required to knock it of the master list, so we will see.

It is stated that the RC1 includes a hash file check to make sure the player's game is unmodded. This and the above may be one of the reasons why you experience crashes.
-
Well, that doesn`t seem to be the reason.
Today Sebihunter announcend that they will release a hotfix for the problem as soon as possible.
Sadly unexpected problems like that often happen at a bigger release as our testing crew is not able to reproduce everything players do.
We already got tons of constructive feedback on IRC and are hoping to get more on our bugtracker by you all.
Be sure to check out the forums and page in the following days when we'll release a hotfix for the biggest problems occuring in this version.
-
Glad IVMP grows.
-
The server will not be upgraded to RC1 until further notice due to script bugs that cause the server to crash.
-
What happend to upgrade ?
-
The new release is too unstable for us to even bother upgrading just yet.
-
So, it's safer to stick with the next unstablest thing
-
I want own cars back
-
The current client is rather stable.
I want own cars back
Cars will be back in due time, once the issues have been sorted out.

It probably means something that you have to think about.

Some script issues can't simply be fixed in a matter of hours/days depending on their severity.
It's like expecting a baby on the same day it was conceived, it has to grow in the womb for months before it is fully developed and ready to be born.

Must say that is great example of script making, well said
