Title: Multi-accounting, allowed or not?
Post by: Huntsman on August 11, 2012, 06:45:04 pm
Hello. I've been aware recently that people are multi-accounting, and administration seems to let it slide by. As far as i'm concerned, for the rest of Argonath, multi-accounting is disallowed. Now i wish to ask the actual rule regarding the multi accounting. Is it allowed or not? If yes, what are the reasons of it being allowed/disallowed. Thank you.

Why would it be disallowed?

No welcome money in VCMP. <-- Can't abuse that to gain easy money
Owning properties under the same IP with 2 accounts? Admins will ask you to prove it is two different persons one way or another ;)

I see no problem in multi-accounting as a player nor as admin.

Hope that cleared up a little for you.

Also; There is no rule regarding multi-accounting in VCMP, EXCEPT if you try to gain advantage over others (e.g owning more vehicles/properties/businesses than what you should).

Multi accounting is only checked heavily in SA:MP due to the possibility of fraud.

Think the main thing which applies to all of Argonath was mentioned over here: http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=75729.0 (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=75729.0)

Quote
Sharing Accounts/Transfering Accounts
Sharing accounts and transfering accounts to another person is prohibited and you may not reveal your account password to anyone. You, as the account holder, will be held solely responsible for any violation of the rules that takes place using your account.

Exception being - clan/group/organisation accounts, which may be managed by more than one person to represent bank accounts and such - obviously, these accounts wouldn't normally be played on.

Does not make sense when a single player uses 3 different accounts...

Although I agree, the reason I have been told is because it is not possible in the current scripts to safely change a user's name via command and not lose all their stats and properties. From what I've been hearing, however, is that this should be fixed in VC:MP RS2.

False. There is a command to safely change everything the account has, you just need to contact lvl3+ admin.

Does not make sense when a single player uses 3 different accounts...
Why should it bother a normal player if someone has more than 1 account?

1. I've heard that the command sometimes bugs, though. My reference was towards a user-based command, however. :)
2. I think he's worried about similar issues to SA:MP where a player may use multiple accounts to commit fraud with in-game money or properties, and ban evade.

1. As I said, false.
2. Committing a fraud like money cheating as a cop? There is no welcome money and using cop commands to money cheat (which is basically only possible way) would be detected in the logs, so it is of no concern. If a players, who has not proven to be 2 different persons owns 2 properties/businesses or more than 2 vehicle's and refuses to prove it, will lose the properties. Ban evading with multiple accounts? Of course they ban evade with a different name....

Why do you make such a big deal out of this, everything has already been told above.
There aint no way to money cheat (unless your [AR]Mihailo) and if the limit of cars/props/businesses are exceeded by multi accounting then they would find it out.
This topic is rather useless since everything is already told and your allowed to have more then 1 account.

There are no current bugs in the Changename system, however it is now conducted by an admin and not the player itself.
Most instances of multi-accounting under one IP address is the result of several family users playing on same IP address.
Multiaccounting is a rarity here anyways since there are no advantages by doing so, therefore its needless to create an enforcing rule on it. As brian said, I think the question has been answered.

I was simply answering another player's question. I never said it was a big deal.
