Title: Steam Error
Post by: Wake on September 02, 2012, 06:23:58 pm
Had this problem for like a damn week now, Suddenly when it popped up in my head I should play CS and started steam this came up.
I been trying multiple times a day now, both reinstalling, removing files to force it to update, using the setup to repair and shit. Keep getting this stupid shit.
Someone got a solution?

First thing you should try is backup your "steamapps" folder, unless you want to redownload everything. Then do a clean uninstall from control panel, after that, delete your WHOLE steam folder (to get rid of any left over files). Also you could try doing a disk cleanup after that (not very necessary, but it might help). Then reboot the PC and download the latest installer (http://store.steampowered.com/about/). After that restore your steamapps folder and try it out.

Possible Fix: Go to your steam folder then delete/move tier0_s.dll that fixed this error for me

Do you have silverlights? Some people on steam forums say that deleting it works.

Last thing I have in mind would be manually deleting steam's registry entries after an uninstall.

Something which I already have done  :trust:

I even tried running a sfc /scannow as some people said, without any progress  :(
