It's been 8 years since when it was first announced, and it's finally being released on September 14th, 2012. In addition to that, through Steam's Greenlight project, it has been overwhelmingly voted to have Valve's official support.

Kudos to the development team who spent years working on this on their own time, and the best part? It's completely free.

Half Life was the first ever original game CD I bought, in 1998 or 1999. While watching the video on the link given, I was rather sad to see that it is still the same game - you relive the same experience all over again with new voice actors and improved graphics. It even has the same lines, I remember them word for word(especially the starting cut scene). Was hoping for a few improvements from its predecessor in the form of new areas to explore or a slight deviation from the original game. I mean, come on, 8 years down the line is this all that can be done?

The point of the game is that it's the same as the first Half-Life man, although you're not entirely correct: new areas have been added, and the dialogue is different, though they are small differences. Remember it's a fan made mod, too, completely free.

Oh, I stand corrected then. But from the trailer that I saw, everything was same as the first half life. And I just played the 1999 half life around 2 months ago or so  :(

The reason why they completely redesigned Half-Life is because people were disappointed with so called 'Half Life: Source,' which is barely a port while Counter-Strike: Source was released in the new engine.
