Title: Gun-free day.
Post by: Ragdoll on September 24, 2012, 04:55:26 pm
Hear me out?

I've been thinking about an Argonath gun-free day. A day where no bullet shall be shot, no person shall be wounded, and no RP shall be ruined.

I won't go into the details since there really isn't that much to it. It would be like the "no criminal" day we had on 9/11/2011 (I think).

So.......................... how about a day with no guns?

Impossible.

Some don't read the forums,
Some cannot resist the temptation,
and you have new players joining which may also be uninformed.

I agree with the idea but I doubt you can keep it gun-free for 24 hours.

If a script can be provided to literally strip everyone from using any gun that day I support this. Else people won't give a shit.

What about new players? It is possible but highly unlikely that it would happen. If you wanted this to work you would have to set up an exclusion zone where no-one can have guns in that certain area.

I agree with the idea but I doubt you can keep it gun-free for 24 hours.

I love this idea!
Well, if you want a day like this, we can inform every player that joins via /pm not to use guns and explain him what's happening
as for the new comers, owners/managers to close all ammu-nations for a day.

If it would have temporary script support. Like disallowing guns via script for that period, I think it would work.
Fixes the "new player" issue. And might just help the admins' job that day.

No crimin = No cop's = No rp
Argo is not a C'n'R server, we can RP all kinds of things without guns ^^

GROVE SUPPORTS THIS. :D

Fed up of being shot at every time we are trying to RP, maybe a gun free day would force people into RPing more, then when the guns come back they will hold up the RP they did without their guns, leave us with bats though... Every nigga has to have a bat. :D

Is there not a script that permanently disarms people ? I mean, not that I fully support this, but I actually like the idea.

No crimin = No cop's = No rp
Since when does the Roleplay counts as being a criminal/cop?

So your saying the only 'RP' that happens is criminals shooting cops and cops shooting criminals?
Having no guns doesn't stop you from using your fists if you really need to attack someone.

Seems like another case of Idlewood-resident.

No crimin = No cop's = No rp

How do you figure this?

There is plenty of opportunities to RP, without needing to be a criminal or a cop.

Cops don't need suspects to do police work.

It is the focus of groups such as SAPD / FBI to RP and interactive with civilians.

Anyhow, I like the topic idea.

No idea why some must be so stubborn about a single day without guns, it's not like they're going to die by not having weapons.

It's just for one day. Trigger-happy people can go take combats out of their asses soon after.

Sure, sometimes people need to die in roleplays, that doesn't mean they have to die by a gun, you can always beat them to death.
The idea was for one single day, not a week or month without weapons.

Thought of that too, but well, try beating someone to death if they decide to randomly run off.
Title: Re: Gun-free day.
Post by: Devin on September 27, 2012, 10:24:57 pm
Then let them run off with their tail between their legs, if they wanted to actually roleplay and get hurt by being beaten, then they wont run away.
If they choose to run off like a scolded dog instead of roleplay, so be it.

Post by: Salmonella on September 27, 2012, 10:29:14 pm
Most people, including me, wouldn't end the roleplay scenario that way if it involves multiple people.
Title: Re: Gun-free day.
Post by: Devin on September 27, 2012, 10:33:43 pm
As I said, if they choose to not roleplay and instead run away after being beaten, let them, if they don't want to roleplay and run off, find another person to roleplay beating.

Provocative and unnecessary posts removed.

Consider this a warning for those who are fond of insulting staff members, particularly Kirgiz and Salmonella. If you refuse to understand the rules about such, then I will reiterate the words of Boromir about shitting on admins...

This applies to the rest as well.

Now back on topic.

I support this idea. I think it would be an interesting way to fight crime (if there is any) with a baton and fists!
But rather than a law thing going on here.
Why not do some generalized rp the whole day?
I dunno exactly what could take place. But maybe a tourism thing or something?
Title: Re: Gun-free day.
Post by: Ragdoll on September 30, 2012, 08:12:24 am
Leroy got the point. No need for HYOOOOOOOOGE criminal activity on that day. Any RP that requires more than one person (and NO shootouts) is good enough.
