so, this is music

first of all I can't hear shit due to the crappy recording, and apart from that all I really see is something that reminds me of ''de kabouterdans'', for Dutch people.

edit:

kabouter plop-De Kabouterdans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-W28f4pKmg#ws)

where's the obvious difference?

Both dress like clowns, ''dancing'' is the exact same, except the music here is better. dem basslines

Well, I have to say, I am disgusted by these people who judge music from other countries with biases, simply just because it is exotic.
Want to be racist? Try me.

It isn't exotic, it's American pop music with Korean lyrics. Same beat that has been in the charts for the past four years, common synths and song assembly that every pop listener cums over. Lyrics that are catchy, yet unique enough to not be exposed for the same dribble that has been fed to the world in every other pop song. No one is judging it because it's Korean, they're judging it because it's shit.

The track is a joke. Yes, it's a joke. Seriously. I don't mean it's bad, but that PSY made it to be a joke.

Why do you always have to "Americanize" everything?
Dont get me wrong. I am an American citizen myself. PSY has sung this kind of songs for more than 10 years now. So your argument is totally biased again.

Here's a link which isn't removed for copyright.
MIB, Squeak obviously is talking about the entire pop music industry itself, not just PSY. And he is kinda right about the general pop music industry, it is all shit.
The point with PSY is not to love him or his music because it is good.. But because of the feeling it gives off.. The way it is brought and the way millions of people like the song, just because it's catchy.. It doesn't have to be GOOD to like it. If you don't understand this, go listen to your 60's music on vinyl.

Tbh haters gonna hate.. people have their likings so, I just don't care for if what I listen, others don't like!

Video's pretty funny and awesome, every single person here in my country dances to whenever the radio plays the song, including me :D
And tbh, I find it awesome how such a video (with many rumours for the group, like for ex; that they were aiming for a parody of LMFAO) makes it to the top, having the most views on the world, even more than JB  and any RnB shit that's the same tune with just different lyrics :P

It's the only argument that matters. The song would not be popular had it not appealed to popular music listeners. To appeal to pop listeners, you have to follow a formula already set in place by the media companies and record labels, an American formula. The song is only popular because it has a catchy hook, a dance beat, a good video and marketability. Please, carry on the discussion in a civil manner as I have and do not resort to personal attacks or stop replying.

Foreign, with the connotation of excitingly foreign.
Non-native to the ecosystem.

Tell me please how is this any foreign to you? Apart from lyrics being in a different language.

America doesn't "rule the media". I think you mean that the American music industry is the biggest in the world as people have easy access to music and for an artist, if you want to become big you need to tackle America.

If you want me to talk in a civil manner, then you should learn to respect other cultures without Americanizing them.

He just gave you a perfectly normal reply explaining how most of the popular 'music' is being made nowadays, without disrespecting any culture. He's not Americanizing anything, he just explained to you how other countries follow a formula that was first seen or heard from American record labels. These American record labels may very well own the whole PSY thing, and if not, they sure did a good job following other's formulas. There is no originality or authenticity in ''Gangnam Style''. It is far from exotic, and apart from the lyrics and video, how exactly would you recognize this as Korean? It is not ''typically Korean'' and therefore using the term exotic would be inappropriate to say the least.

Why aren't you getting on topic instead of telling people to 'grow up' and dictating to them how they should talk about something? Squeak stayed mature and gave perfectly reasonable explanations for all his statements. In return, you tell him to talk in a civil manner, something which he's already doing, and accuse him of 'Americanizing' other 'cultures' without anything to back up the accusation. I didn't expect anyone to actually go against what Squeak said, but if it were to happen, I'd have expected them to come up with something more... just something, because these are just empty accusations.

Who cares now a days you can have a machine that knows how to match wub wub w/ dub dub and then auto tune your voice and its called music, talent has been replaced by technology, just like how Tupac and Freddy Mercury are now on tour. Its a strange world we live in no a days.
