Title: A VC:MP Panel?
Post by: ~Legend~ on November 02, 2012, 03:41:59 pm
This idea's very open ended, and I know elements of this has been talked about in the past.
First of all, have any of you seen this? - Argonath RPG SA:MP Panel (http://panel.argonathrpg.eu/index.php)
It was fully released only a few weeks back, open to all players. This is a first of its kind for players in general, in the past the Argonath Administration has made use of various 'offline' panel systems.

Wouldn't it be pretty neat to have something of the sort for VC:MP?
VC:MP's model puts us up with some constraints, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean there is no hope for the future.

Currently I can think of quite a simplified offline system that might work, but its productive uses may be limited in our PAWN server version(s).

The SA:MP panel currently offers individual player logs. For instance, here's Gimli's - http://panel.argonathrpg.eu/index.php/profile/1 (http://panel.argonathrpg.eu/index.php/profile/1)

You can actually sign in there with your details and it gives you access to some general options, running in parallel with the live server.

At the moment it is still "basic" in that some things are only going to be possible with SA:MP's RS5 server (a little like our 2.0), and the full possibilities are still being evaluated.

If we had the option to make use of something like that I'd certainly go for it. :)

It is possible, VC:MP servers have had panels before. Actually, I think even Stormeus once made one for his own project.

Yeah, I've seen a few that have live update for player stats.
We could make use of something here in the future, maybe.

There's also the Argonath Stock Market, which has come into operation in certain servers. If all of it were to be linked up, something very useful could come of it.

I think this could be implemented in 2.0, but adding it to the scrits we have now would be a waste imo. Good idea tho', that could really help both players and admins.

This is cool it should be simplified for the current version.

Adding any new script idea to the current scripts is a waste. All new ideas would be put forward to 2.0 which is (supposedly) currently in the making.

I think due to the issues, Storm ended up rebranding it as 2.1...but he is still working on it last he told me. :)

As for the Panel idea, I don't see why not. We have someone making one for LU too. They bring the forum and game servers closer together through the linked interfaces, and open up many more possibilities for players and admins alike. :)

Plus, hopefully more of the servers' players will use the Argonath site and forums actively.
