The maximum size of the signature can be 728x90. Raise the height back to 125 like it was before forums were updated. I have must signatures that were made with that size and can't really use them as they look odd with the new size. Not just that, 90 is very small and doesn't really let the signatures look to good.

I think giving a bit more room wouldn't be a bad thing. It's quite limited right now and so long as signatures aren't gigantic more leeway shouldn't compromise anything, hopefully.

It's actually not even that big...
-
As it's quite a quick setting to change, giving a little more freedom would seem okay? If people start using big, space taking sigs those with the permissions to edit profiles could quickly remove or adjust it as a solution.

500 being maximum height like before isn't a bad idea.
-
Some are already too big. No.

Yes, but people complained about slow loading pages and data traffic on their phones.

Everyone should just go to ASCII signatures.

Supported. It's almost impossible to make 90px look good.

You can turn forum sigs off in your profile settings. They have no reason to complain, they're being lazy.

Anything over 150 would be way too much.
Mind you most people don't use the whole 728, but here's an example.
728 x 500, this after every post wouldn't work.

728 x 150, this could do.

Too big. 500x125 was the best choice.

Data traffic on phone? what?
500X125 was great, highly supported, if you wanna keep 700x90, just remove the feature as it makes it very hard to create signatures and they don't even show up well.
Or how about disable animations? as I can barely think of a jpg image in 500x125 which consists more than 200 kb of space.

:P
Wonder how many language packages are installed right now... would be interesting to see what characters work over this side.
-
I support this, it will look much better with increased height

I agree with 500x125.
-
I don't mind so much the width, it's the height that annoys me most, especially with signatures that never stop moving.

I couldn't help but chuckle when I noticed the signature in the post above yours was also a .gif. :pop:

I agree with 500x125.
That is what I put the limit as on ARFD Forums. It seems to be a decent alternative, as it stops people from going overboard, but still allows those with larger signatures to have a decent visibility of the images themselves. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than this, though.

Yeah. :)
Nothing wrong in showing off a cool pic or w/e, you just don't want it to become so larger than life that it becomes the topic.

Text size limitation (currently set to 9pt) and the line size limitation can be a tad frustrating.
At least keeps things neat, but some more breathing space may be beneficial.

They can use the computer or get better internet, because I doubt that a 500x125 image really causes problems for you.
Anything over 150 would be way too much.
My mistake. I meant to say 500 in width like the old one, which was already stated as being 500x125.

500x125 is actually a decent size without being too big, even on smaller monitors. I would personally recommend that as the max.

I have grown to like the new "restrictions" even though at first it seemed a little small, now at least the page isn't filled by signatures larger than many of the posts.

The signatures weren't even that big compared to the ones now. There's no reason why 500x125 shouldn't be re-added.

The 500x125 ones weren't the issue that led to the restriction. The problem was that people were beginning to use massive signatures that spanned more area than their posts themselves.

If that's the case, no images should be allowed on signatures. Click on my image on my signature, it shows the actual size of the image. So, even with this current limited size, those "large images" will still be there.
-
The big complaint previously about signatures was about large .gif signatures which would take quite some time to load.
I can also recall Gandalf making a post about the size of the signatures being somewhat.
Here's a discussion about the size from some time back.

Administrators could easily remove those over-done gifs.

It seems that size was pretty much universally-liked, assuming the text lines couldn't be extended beyond 3 lines. That I can actually agree with too, as it is what most forums I've been to use. I would highly recommend nothing larger ever be considered, though.
