Hi guys,
As most of you probably know me from SA:MP Argonath server's, RPG and Stunt, aswell Paruni, I want to join VC:MP,
I just want to open new ways in my gaming experience,
I played before with Janek though but server wasn't active enough and I just stopped playing it.
Can somebody provide me link where to download those things which I need for playing VC:MP again.
Thanks,
Sincerly, Servius

So, you will need a copy of Vice City 1.0 american version.
You can get the VC:MP client from here:
http://www.vicecitymultiplayer.com/ (http://www.vicecitymultiplayer.com/)
IP is 178.63.52.144:5192
You won't see much people around, but usually during weekends, there are more than 10 people.
Have fun.
-
Welcome ;)

Not true! :P
You will see people around if you come down.
Often all it takes (when the server is more empty) is for 1-2 people to join and play around for a while before others also come on.
Servius, hope to see you around. :)

Well, usually when i don't have time, i really don't see anybody.
-
I installed the game, but when I get in, It says "Enter the GTA Vice City CD or Esc", what should I do?
-
Try using this No-CD 1.0 patch, It might help. Clicky. (http://www.freeinfosociety.com/site.php?postnum=1920)

I believe that works as "crack" which is not allowed to be shared here, or anywhere on Argonath RPG, I think you should remove the link, before it's late.

Did you downloaded the file? It actually works as a Patch and BTW, it was just to help a newbie play VC:MP, nothing more.

It's an official patch, you can find the download on Rockstar's site for free.
-
The No-CD version is a "cracked" version of the officially patched executable. As long as you legally own the game, it's fine to share here. If you don't, then it is not allowed whatsoever, and the link should be removed as we do not support piracy, nor can we assist users with pirated games.
Next time I would recommend PM'ing it to them after first confirming they own the game legally, instead.

Okay, problem solved.. Thank you
But look this, when I open VC:MP Client box its okay, but when I close it, I get some errors. I just keep holding "Enter" and they dissapear but can I get rid of them?

Using Vista or windows 7 makes that error happen. You need to set vcmp to work in Windows 98 / ME compatibility mode. (Right click vcmp.exe, click properties, click compatibility tab, check the "Run this program....", check the drop down box for "Windows 98 / ME" and apply)
-
Thank you!
Guys when do you mostly go on server? I must to tell that I mostly see server empty

Use this server browser for connecting instead:

It is made by VRocker to avoid these errors, which are caused by OS permission problems on newer OS'es.
-
Guys, I have problem, I downloaded this client which SugarD gave me and now when I enter any server just "Connecting to xx.xx.xx:xxxx" appears..
Maybe its because of client or what?

That happens because you are either connecting to a server which isn't up, or you are blocked/banned from it.
-
Argonath is up and running, maybe you tried another server?

Fixing something that isn't broken...
IMO just get the old client back since it actually worked.
Players go on server usually et europe evenings, but there are players on at the day too, but this is the time of the year for the server when it's quite empty.. :(

I sometimes have that problem when my net is lagging, especially upload wise.

Everything is okay now, thanks for help.. Met up with [AEF]King and stuff.. Waiting more guys to meet up there.
By the way, another question, can I make my resolution any way higher? I play SP in great resolution and I don't see also what is problem?
:ps: Why you must use /c before any command? Why not just "/" then command?

You can change the resolution in single player (I think the compatibility mode has to be the same with gta-vc.exe and vcmp.exe)
:ps: Why you must use /c before any command? Why not just "/" then command?
/c(ommand). VCMP requires the usage of /c with the scripts we have now.
Only commands that are made to the VCMP program itself work without /c (/me, /do etc..)

And how to make same compatibility mode to both of them?
-
And how to make same compatibility mode to both of them?
Both resolutions should be the same by default.
-
And how to make same compatibility mode to both of them?
Just right click on the gta-vc.exe icon and do the same as you did on VC:MP icon.

Not true. On Windows Vista and above it breaks badly.

Works fine for me, and I'm on Win7..

Then you have compatibility settings on. The old browser gets the spam of errors he has described if you don't. However, turning on these settings means copying your settings file to another location as a workaround. It works, but it's a ridiculous fix for an outdated program which was updated to resolve it. :P

Only thing breaking is my mentality after reading such sh*t. No offense to you, Sugar, but that is absolute lie. Windows 98 / Me fixes the client more than breaks it on Vista and 7.
With said compatibility mode there are:
1. NO window spamming after shutting down the client
2. MUCH less crashes (ever wonder why me and Klaus basically never crash unless our Internet sucks? here's your answer)
On Windows XP, the compatibility mode is worse since the client works without (tho' the crashes are there) :/

The Windows 98/ME fix also forces you to copy your settings file to Public/Documents/GTA Vice City User Files/ which is a ridiculous manual workaround.

Nope. I never did such a thing.
Anything else you want to discuss about?

Then you are using default settings. It is a known issue even VC:MP themselves have acknowledged. The only possible way around it is if you had Windows XP and upgraded for a Vista or higher OS, and it kept the path correct for some odd reason.
-
You high man?
I just set the compatibility mode, then make your settings. They will save and no, I'm not playing with any default settings. Get your facts straight before spreading shit around.

Read the VC:MP Forums. It's a known issue. The new browser wasn't created for no apparent reason.
-
I don't need to read VCMP forums, I know this from experience.
1st: put the compatibility mode to both vcmp.exe and gta-vc.exe
2nd: Set your settings in SINGLE PLAYER
???
PROFIT. No more crashes (may happen every now and then, but the difference is significant) no more window spamming.

Setting your settings in single-player while in 98/ME compatibility mode is simply re-creating that file in the new location, which leaves you with 2 different settings files on your computer.

It saves the file to Documents/GTA Vice City User Files like it always has, no matter the compatibility settings. What I have noticed is that you can put multiple settings for one installation by changing the compatibility mode. But I assure you, there is only 1 gta_vc.set file.

I'm sorry to say, but that is not correct. Setting the compatibility mode changes the directory it gets the settings file from. Unless you specifically set the compatibility mode before ever running VC for the first time, then there will be one in both directories.

I could make a video of me changing the compatibility mode and using Windows search to search for every-single gta_vc.set file and it would NEVER find more than 1. How do I know this? Because I take ADVANTAGE of it.
Let's take an example of a case in which I happen to do VERY often.
I have 2 different compatibility modes I use, Windows XP SP3 and Windows 98 / Me.
In Windows 98 / Me, I have the settings for my "Best available" hardware, using my newest monitor that supports 1920x1080 resolution and Logitech G9x mouse additional buttons.
Then there is my BACKUP mode, Windows SP3 compatibility mode. Settings are altered to my older hardware, a monitor with native resolution of 1600x900 and a mouse with no additional buttons.
YET there is but 1 gta_vc.set file. Do you still want to keep arguing to what my PC has and how I take advantage of it, or make yourself look like an idiot thinking you know more than I do by reading forums instead of actually doing it yourself?
-
As I said before, this was posted on VC:MP Forums for a specific reason. I'm not going to continue this argument with you.
-
:poke:
Actually I made myself look like an idiot. It does create a separate file. Guess I haven't used the trick since I reinstalled Windows or some program I use removes the identical folder with new settings file in it, can't be sure. My bad.
:ps: Doesn't mean that the compatibility mode breaks the client tho'.
-
Can you stop arguing in this topic?
Just tell me what should I do to get same resolution in SP and MP?
-

Depending on how you are getting your settings, load single-player and change the settings before starting a game. If you are using Kessu's method, you should be able to do it after setting both files to that compatibility mode. If you are using the new server browser, you don't need to do anything to the files, and just open single-player and set your settings.
-
Done!
Its okay now,
PS. SugarD when will LU server be opened? Since on Argo wiki I can't find server IP...

Not for me.
If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8, it will if those settings aren't on. If you are on XP or below, you don't need the settings and it won't. You have either one of the newer OS'es with the settings on, or one of the older ones with them off, or you are using the newer server browser. It is a consistent, OS-related issue that doesn't just disappear and appear on some systems.
-
I used Vista and 7 and i never had these windows spam issue.
-
I just told you, I'm on Windows 7 without these "settings" and it works fine.
