I'm very glad Americans still have such good and reliable politicians as Obama. I wonder why we gotta have (had?) people like Berlusconi&Co.. Politicians that change name to their parties every 10 years and think no one actually cares that they've been staying there for ages, becoming every time worse, taking a state to its lowest status ever..

Indeed Congratulations to Obama, however now sparks more debates over our electoral college system as when Obama was announced by most networks as the president re-elect, he was loosing by popular vote but won by electoral votes. Mitt Romney held off to concede simply because a few states had a chance to turn to his favor even against many network projections.

Regardless of your stance for Obama or Romney, this was a historical night. One of the closest elections I've seen, actually the closest I've seen. Some areas so close they couldn't even make Projections for the electoral swing even after they announced president re-elect Obama. I'll also state, Mitt and his team were too hopeful, Mitt Romney didn't even write a conceding speech, only a victory speech and this played out throughout the night.

Personally, without going to political; I wasn't fond of either candidate, but I strongly oppose the views of Romney and his large ego. Obama has stated he was going to get some things done, and people bicker about some of the things not becoming accomplished, without thinking or seeing the efforts to do them that he did that got shot down in either the House of Representatives, or the Senate and now even a large challenge awaits in the same aspect as our governments political split is a "cliff", while both Democrats and Republicans are confident and willing to work with Obama to overcome bipartisan issues in Washington.

Again, much congratulations to Obama, Biden, their families and the thousands of volunteers on his campaign. Also Congratulations to Mitt and his team for one hell of a fight right down to the last minute they remained hopeful. Unlike many other elections neither party knew they were going too loose, McCain in last election knew he was going to loose a few days before. This wasn't the case this election, both of them were on their feets fighting till the last moment.

While it remains true Obama officially hasn't won yet because the electoral college hasn't voted yet, as they vote in December, hopefully it'll be the last time this electoral college system remains in effect as its unjust, unfair and was created in a time where the travel of information was done by horseback and the idea of fiber optic networks wasn't even a distant dream. The popular vote needs to mean something in this age, I guess we shall see over the next few weeks if it'll remain a talking point or if it'll wither off the agenda of news corporations for a bigger better story.

Mitt Romney is a fake, he offends every country he goes too and thinks that he should be running the world, he's just a big headed business man who can't keep his mouth shut and I'm sure alot of other countries would agree (the ones he's offended anyway).

Obama's done more than Mitt Romney ever would/could, Romney would just ruin America's relationships with other countries as he's already done to himself, even Boris Johnson said 'Some guy called Mitt Romney' infront of millions of people in public and on TV in the UK, if thats not making Mitt look like a dick then I don't know what is, plus some top whatever's in the UK have already predicted Obama will be re-elected, I'de rather see him in the white house that a poser. ;)

Apparently the closest election in 70 years. I haven't checked the figure, but no one can dispute how at times it got so neck and neck in places.

2000 final result was closer than this. 303 for Obama, 206 for Romney. It's fairly obvious it's more far than close.
Florida hasn't even completed to decide...

Who gives a damn except Americans and 2/3 of Mexicans?

If he's a "good" president he'll finish what he promised when he was first elected.

Yeah, a lot of "swing", although I think its closeness was judged a great deal on popularity vote.

I think being the leader of any country right now and maybe more so in Europe, Americas, is a hard cut job with the economy, which really has few permanent/'non-side effect' cures other than perhaps natural regeneration sided with time.

USA being such a global player it's a tough job. :D

I would hate to think what USA would turn into under Romney. Luckily there's a very slim chance of him ever taking office.

USA gives more room for the party system than some other representative democracies of similar standing.
At the moment their executive body is occupied by both the Democrats and Republicans, maintaining a "half and half" system... guess that keeps it a bit more equal than making way for a one party rule.

Why do most Americans moan about Obama, they didn't want Romney, but they don't want Obama either.. :trust:

I guess who can really do a hugely better job, especially given the burden of still having to deal with the economic downturns.

I hope Obama will remain in office, if he will, then I believe this act would have contributed to it. I really believe some serious shit will go down if Romney becomes president. I'm surprised anyone even has trust in him. To be honest, Ron Paul was my favourite all along. Too bad he has no chance at all now that it's basically Romney versus Obama. Having said that, to me it's obvious which candidate a sane man would vote for.

I'm happy.

As you can see, Obama wouldn't have been my first choice if there were more candidates left, sadly, for some reason, all the other candidates vanished early in the race. Ron Paul would've been great, but Obama isn't so bad, apart from what he approved of in the east, e.g. Syria, Libya and Afghanistan. I'd pick anyone else over Romney any time.

btw romney's a mormon

TBH I think their political/voting system is a joke, it all seems unfair and like alot of America's citizens in the 'battle grounds' are silenced by a majority vote of their state..

It's the same with the UK. In the past, the Lib Dems have actually gained a lot of the overall vote, but because their support is so widespread, they never win any constituencies.
