If it's possible to get up a web browser, try to browse about the virus.

Got something similar before, managed to open Firefox with it. Used google to check up what it was and got across a code which i used in the program, and it made the virus delete itself, lol.

Start your computer in Safe mode with command prompt and run this command: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe.
Then select the date/time when you didn't had the police virus and let system restore run  ;)

System restore will have no effect, the infection will remain in the computer.

Please ask help from one of the malware team helpers in http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php? (http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?)

Follow the steps in the stickied topics THEN post your issue with description, and the logs that were requested at the stickied topics.

I urge you to do it ASAP due to the fact most of the forum users are focused on other boards, and please do not take steps from ordinary users unless you have confidence in them. Remember, it can cost you!

Bad news; this type of infection is called 'scam-ware" and will usually ask money from you in order to unlock your PC, and this is obviously fake. Similar cause: http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=124824 (http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=124824) (make your own topic if you wish, do not take steps from any other topic because it'll harm your computer because cases differ)

Good luck.

Either a good Anti Virus, either give system restore a try.. If that do not help.. Well, either choose between reinstalling windows (way quicker) and get more secure, or either try fixing it, which might take a while... And get more securer to.

Had the german version once, how did you fix it? :D

I did:

1. CTRL + ALT + DEL
2. Switch to a new account
3.Close any running programs and open Windows so you are back at the desktop.
4.Click on the Start ((http://www.bleepstatic.com/tutorials/vista_features/vista_start_button.jpg)) button.
3.In the Start Menu Search Box (http://www.bleepstatic.com/tutorials/vista-parental-controls/vista-search-box.jpg (http://www.bleepstatic.com/tutorials/vista-parental-controls/vista-search-box.jpg)) type msconfig
and press enter on your keyboard.

Than select "Safe mode". Than reboot the computer.
Than go to config, and than select system recovery, put it back to a day you didn't have the virus yet.

And than its solved, atleast for me.

How do you get this virus?

The virus is usually packed with executables, usually packed with torrents and other downloads..

I did:

1. CTRL + ALT + DEL
2. Switch to a new account
3.Close any running programs and open Windows so you are back at the desktop.

I ave some bad news for you, system restore doesnt help(Probably).
Most of the viruses of that kind are packed with replicables. These replicables attatch themselves to your executables, so there is a very high chance that the virus will infect your pc again(And there is also a good chance that the virus may find out that you escaped it earlier and start deleting your files).

In order to get rid of it, follow my instructions.
Download the following tool(Which can remove this virus, its by Kaspersky).
http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool-register (http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool-register)

Give fake info if you need to, they give the download directly, not on your mail.
Download version 11 and wait for it to do its magic, if you have any trouble then google up kaspersky virus removal disk(Also free) and run it again.

I haven't downloaded anything, thats the weird part. I was googling for pictures for a new signature, suddenly my screen turns black and than the virus pops up.

Try combofix when u get complicated virus problems.
Best rootkit and worm removal when everything else fails.
It cuts your internet connection (until scan completed) and scans your hard drive, slashing and cutting its way through every more hostile program you have in your hard drive.

DON'T!

I have an experience with Combofix, and Combofix should be used in the presence of an expert..

Besides, ComboFix was created only because it gives a report in the end, and that report should be sent to your malware helper..
If I haven't posted this message you'd screw up your computer because there are lots of steps that you should do when using ComboFix, this is important especially when the download websites absolutely do not warn you about what will happen when you miss those steps.

This is what happens when running ComboFix in an unsupervised environment:

You are right, this program should only be used by people who know enough about PC's soft and hardware.
But still, if you have a problem that nothing else can remove (Had many viruses that neither NOD32, Spyware elimination programs neither the kaspersky could deal with) this is a good solution.
Never let me down or made my system unstable.

Read the instructions carefully, though.

Anyway, to the people that have this kind of problem as the thread starter.
The easiest way (in my opinion) to get rid of this is do a system restore to the nearest checkpoint.
