Title: ~MOVIES~(All genre)- suggestions, rating, impressions.
Post by: Cofiliano on December 11, 2012, 02:27:01 am
Since last few days I've discovered a lot of people here, are movie fanatics a topic like this is indeed needed.

Basicly write down your impressions on the last good movie you've seen, what is it about, how would you rate it etc.

Savages
Savages Trailer Official (HD) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFWZ6doRb34#ws)

One of the rare new movies who're not a classical clishe of criminal  movies that we're used to already. Oliver Stone is the producer, the mastermind of 'Scarface', I would give it a 8/10, and a big recommendation.

London
London (2005) - Official Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJxTh-ZoB9I#ws)
Jason Statham at his best, before he went full comercial acting like a british wannabe version of Rambo, epic plot in the movie, a lot of funny situations, recommendation 8.5/10

The last film I watched where I was just captivated throughout the entire film was probably Good Will Hunting. Matt Damon is one of my favourite actors, so I came into this film with relatively high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. Superb cast, superb acting and a superb storyline. I even had a few tears in my eye at the "It's not your fault" scene.

One of the best scenes in the movie:

Or this. The monologue about his wife farting was completely improvised by the way. Had me in stitches, and still does everytime I see it.

MIB 3, it was rather cool, and unlike most of the recent films coming along, the 3D actually does contribute to the film. Rather interesting storyline, I like where they took the storyline about J and his family since it was hinted upon in previous films. 7.5/10, make sure you watch it with 3D first (If you haven't already)

Carlito's Way. Another well known gangster movie brought by Al Pacino
Carlito's Way (1993) - Official Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yehgqPtG3Y#)
End of Watch - An awesome movie, i saw two days ago. From the director of Training Day this movie is realistic, and it has a really sad end, you guys should totally check it out.
End of Watch Official Trailer [HD]: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña and Anna Kendrick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX2CO4YyREU#ws)
I don't know about rating these, but ill go with 7.5 at both of them.

1. American History X
- A former neo-nazi skinhead tries to prevent his younger brother from going down the same wrong path that he did.

2. Boondock Saints 1&2
- Fraternal twins set out to rid Boston of the evil men operating there while being tracked down by an FBI agent.

3. Green Street Hooligans 1&2 (nr. 1 is better)
- A wrongfully expelled Harvard undergrad moves to London, where he is introduced to the violent underworld of football hooliganism.

4. Street Kings
- Tom Ludlow is a veteran LAPD cop who finds life difficult to navigate after the death of his wife. When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he's been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him.

I've seen all these movies more than three times.

Old classics I like are 'Scarface, Godfather, Pulp fiction, Superman, Star Wars, the good & bad & ugly.Anything else such as horror / thriller movies, Chainsaw Massacre, Wrong Turn, Eyes have hills, Elm Street, Halloween, I am legend, Gran Torino and comedies ofcourse such Project X, Hangover, American Pie, Zohan, Bruno, Borat and some oldies. For top series, The Office (US), Prison Break, Supernatural, CSI Miami, Friends, Bing bang, Rome and Top Gear.

I responsibly recommend any of the above mentioned.

Approved and recommended

2. Boondock Saints 1&2
- Fraternal twins set out to rid Boston of the evil men operating there while being tracked down by an FBI agent.

Approved and recommended, tho the 2nd part aint that good as the first. They were gonna make the 3rd part, yet as I heard its stopped for now.
3. Green Street Hooligans 1&2 (nr. 1 is better)
- A wrongfully expelled Harvard undergrad moves to London, where he is introduced to the violent underworld of football hooliganism.
This is the worst hooligan movies that was ever made, and its nothing but a laugh which has nothing to do with reality. As we would say, 'American view' on hooligans.

Departed

One of my favoret movies, well known among Gvardia ;), every actor in it should received an Oscar for their play, one of the 'must watch' movies.

Martin Scorsese's classic!
The Departed - Trailer - (2006) - HQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGWvwjZ0eDc#ws)

and the soundtrack in it, one of the best!

Just watched 'Get the Gringo', Mario Rinna's recommendation, and I agree, recommendaiton from me as well.

Carnage, 2011
Two pairs of parents hold a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a fight, though as their time together progresses, increasingly childish behavior throws the evening into chaos.

I fucking loved this movie, superb acting and writing. Not everyone will like it, but if you enjoy a certain type of comedy you will.

Give me a better hooligan movie if you say this one sucks...
