At least four firefighters have been shot, two of them killed, while responding to a house fire in the state of New York, authorities said.
Officials in the town of Webster, around 340 miles (550 km) northwest of New York City, said "one or more shooters" opened fire as firefighters arrived at the scene of the blaze around 6am on Monday.
Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn said there were no active shooters at the scene at 10am, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
Webster fire marshal Rob Boutillier said it was not clear whether any additional firefighters were shot.
The fire spread to a total of three homes near the Lake Ontario shore, and all were still burning.
A man answering the phone at the fire station said firefighters are unable to battle the blazes until police secure the area.
The neighbourhood's residents were being evacuated and searched by police, and a SWAT team was on the scene.

The shooter is GTA addicted much...
-
What.
This is just outrageous.

This is getting out of control

Looks like things are going to the dogs at this rate.
Who needs a natural disaster to kill all mankind when mankind kills itself.

Weapon sales are booming right now at the U.S. Same thing is also happening with those type of companies that are making bullet proof backpacks for children. Almost feels like some group organized this for benefits.

Firemen just trying to do there jobs and some dick head comes along with a gun..
Was the dick head in question caught?
-
Probably a voluntary fireman who believed he would get more money if the fire burns longer....
On a more serious note, guess the right to bear arms should have been taken out 50 years ago. Right now its already too late to fix all idiots.

Damn right.

You guys act like shootings never happen in the U.S. They happen every day but don't get mass-reported like they are now because of the CT. shooting. Shootings happen, people die. It's life, it happens in your country too.
Right to bear arms is an amendment that should never be taken out, or else we'll be defenseless. Look at all the countries who took away guns, guess where you're house is more likely to be broken into. A gun is a tool. You don't blame cars for drunk drivers, you don't blame pencils for mistake. You don't even blame spoons and forks for fat people. Stop blaming guns.
and no, the gunman wasn't caught. He killed himself after shooting the firemen.

While shootings do happen every day in the United States, a special case that hits home when people who risk their lives everyday for our safety are caught in the cross fire for simply doing their job. No emergency services personnel should ever be put into harms way more than what they do on a daily basis..
As for your second point, all I can say is bravo. I've been trying to find a way to say the exact same you said and you hit it on the nail! Taking away guns simply leaves us defenseless, and as you said you don't blame a car for a drunk driver, just as you cannot blame a shooting on the gun..

Well, statistically, almost always the United States.

I hate you so much right now
I actually read about this last night. It was such a shock to the country that even my local newspaper sent me a "breaking news" email about it. I can't believe some of the sick things people do. Two Police Officers were also killed that same day in two different states. One was found slain after being unresponsive for some amount of time, and another was killed during a traffic stop.
It just goes to show how screwed up our world is. Emergency services are supposed to be there to help us...not get killed by us. I've heard rumors from various Argo users too that in the Netherlands, Paramedics are also dealing with people randomly attacking them and beating them up when they respond to 911 calls.
These kinds of things just sicken me...
