Sacramento police are responding to a call of a barricaded suspect who might have a hostage in the Tahoe Park neighborhood, according to authorities.

Police have not yet been able to confirm whether there is a hostage, but are taking all necessary precautions, said police spokeswoman Officer Michele Gigante.

Shortly before noon, an outside agency was involved in a vehicle pursuit when the vehicle crashed and the suspects fled, Gigante said.

At some point, one of the suspects was reported to be contained - its unclear whether in a house or some other structure - and possibly with a hostage in the area of 63rd Street and 2nd Avenue, Gigante said.

Edit: Here's another article on it. It looks like SWAT is responding now:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —A SWAT team has been called in response to a possible hostage situation in Sacramento following a car chase.

A spokeswoman for the Sacramento Police Department said someone is inside a home, but officers are still determining whether there is anyone else with that person.

The California Highway Patrol was following a car when it crashed along 63rd Street and Second Avenue about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

One person ran from the car after the wreck.

Sacramento police and SWAT are now working along 64th Street and Second Avenue.

A woman who was possibly being held hostage in a Tahoe Park home is safe and outside of the residence.

The woman came outside at 2:20 p.m. Police were questioning her to see if she had been held hostage and if a suspect they were seeking was in the home.

The man believed to have been barricaded in a Tahoe Park home today has surrendered peacefully this afternoon, city police said.

Police said they are still trying to ascertain if he is the motorist who fled from the California Highway Patrol and disappeared into a house on 64th Street moments after crashing his vehicle.

Seems this could end up like the Jack In The Box incident (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=91977.0) if there is a hostage inside. It just came through on the news, so I'll update this when I know more. It may just end as a small situation, or it could turn out like a couple of the past large ones. We'll have to wait and see.

Agreed.

I just updated it with another article. Nothing new so far except that SWAT is now on-scene, and the "outside agency", (referenced by the Sacramento Bee), from the pursuit was the California Highway Patrol.

It's not a battle zone. This is a single man who ran from police...

First post edited with an update. The woman believed to be a hostage inside the home has safely left it, and is being questioned by police.

Oh so the daily mass shootings, kidnappings, high speed persuits, and other serious crimes are nothing to worry about..

If you actually bothered to read anything I posted in this topic, you would see that not a single gun was mentioned, and not a single person was shot or hurt so far. I fail to see how this is a battle zone.

As for this:

I dare you to name one country that doesn't have these on a daily basis, with a population over 1 million people.

Edit: Updated again. The suspect has surrendered peacefully to police.
