Title: Users not able to edit their own posts?
Post by: TiMoN on January 30, 2013, 05:09:09 pm
I was not able to find a suitable place to post this, so here goes;

Recently, I have noticed that I am not able to modify my posts nor access to any editing option, I even tried to use the old fashioned way which is linking the post ID and the topic ID in the URL.

Is that a bug? Or was it meant to block normal users from editing their posts to avoid abuse/misleading?

Can you not see the pencil and paper icon at the end of your post?

I can still modify my own posts so it is probably a bug.

There must be a permissions issue with the "Regular" forum rank.

To prevent losing some old material the edit has been temporarily disabled yesterday evening.
It is back now, but at the moment with a limit of 100 hours.
Owners of groups or organizations who need to edit their topic can contact me to get temporary permission if needed.

I am able to see it now, it was some sort of a issue with Regular's permissions as MadBoi said.

Thank you to whoever fixed this.

Never knew that, thanks for informing.  :gand:

I can't remove my own posts.
That may or may not have been removed. You would have to ask Gandalf to be sure.

Gandalf aka Ronnel. He is one of the Server Owners, and leads the forum administration here. He is also the one who temporarily removed the ability to edit posts recently.

I think he was implying that he was waiting for a response about it from Gandalf, not that he didn't know who he is.

Someone understands me, thanks.

For me it was more board specific I found... or maybe I was just being delirious. ;p

Hopefully things will all be fine in a short space of time.

If you have Board Moderator rights, they won't be affected by this.

The setting is affecting everyone across the forum. He said he would restore the permissions when he feels it is safe to do so again. He can't do it on a per-user basis.

You may want to re-check the last line then. ;)

Just shoot Gandy a PM and he should be able to fix it for you, as needed. He may be away for a bit, though, so have patience.
