Surprised I haven't seen a topic about this game yet.
The 2 week open beta launched wednesday this week and you can download it for free on PC, 360 and PS3.
This open beta is used to make suggestions to the developers, report bugs and of course have fun.
There are 2 maps (airport and museum) and 2 game modes (crash site and hunter).
I would describe the game as an exact mix between Call of Duty and Halo.
CoD because of the fast paced gameplay and Halo because of the alien themed gameplay.
The graphics look amazing but the maps are really small, disappointing and badly made.
Gameplay, art and so on is to be changed for official release which is in february.
IGN Plays the Crysis 3 Multiplayer Open Beta (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppmp_mosT8Q#ws)
What do you think of it?
-
Doesn't seem too bad, busy downloading the beta right now for a test.
-
I'll download it when I come home from work and try it! Too me it aint look so bad though.
-
Niggas, did you even try it out?
f**kin 10 FPS even on a GT650M 2GB, EVEN AT THE LOWEST SETTINGS!!!!!!!!!!
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
I was thinking of creating a topic on it tho.

Got a GTX670M 3GB so I will try high settings. :D
-
I tested for 25minutes, I uninstalled it.
-
You can't expect any proper performance from a laptops graphics card, no matter the memory built in...
-
Won't even bother.
Basically put Crysis 2 with a sling bow into new maps. Same shit as Cowa Dootey.
-

Its the first game to lag.. All other latest games give 40-60 FPS at ultra.
Btw, noticed I was being a noob, the textures were at high -.-
Just got done playing for an hour, reached rank 4 :D but yeah, even with low textures the FPS went up by 17, still lags.
and fuckin lucky Ernst.

There
Anyway I downloaded the game. Gonna try it later.

Have it on the PS3. Very smooth, haven't discovered any real bugs.
It's a fun game to play with friends, also I expect the campaign to be really good.
The level system is changed in the beta. You can go up to lvl 11, after lvl 11 you can do a suit reboot (like CoD prestige) to get new beta weapons, for example the bow.

Dude, FPS on PS3 is 10, if you can measure it somehow. ;)

Ehh to be honest it's running extremely smooth.

A score I had in a specific match
1337 if you can't see.
-
Spent about 30minutes on it this morning, it's not that bad, unfortunately my PCs age is catching up with it, on low I was struggling to get a constant 40-50 FPS at times.
-
I will download it as soon as I get new internet! :D
-
I tried on "Very high settings" and all I can say is; DEM GRAPHICS! :wow:
-
The only thing I'm fucking upset about is, they didn't do enough with the maps.
When you look up to the background of the map ( where you can't go ), you see beautiful buildings, pillars and signs which make the game feel really alive. But when you look back down to the map where you play, it's just some cheap mud, wooden stairs and some small brick houses..
-
Planning to try this out on the PS3.
Just ran into a discussion with some White Shadows about this. Doesn't look bad, been wanting to try out one of the Crysis games.

Dude you have tried Airport map, right?
That's my fav one, and fuckin awesome! Other than the fact that Cell people group up and hide that one corner.
I love hiding under severs when cell, along with a shield and rape with machine gun when le wild hunter appears :p
Also hate that there's no auto aim as I play with Xbox controller. :/
-
Played one game and uninstalled it lol
-
How do you guys measure FPS btw?

Fraps.

Autoaim on a FPS game... why even bother? :gd:
-
Interesting. I'll give it a try later today, when I'm on my primary PC.
i5 2550K @ 4.5GHz and a GTS 450 should be able to run it, although not perfectly.
If so many people are having trouble running this game smoothly at the highest settings, then I doubt that it runs on the same engine as Crysis 2, because even my GTS 450 can run that nicely at the highest settings.
-
I had performance issues running it on my GTX 560, so RIP GTS 450...
-

It's not the graphics card that matters only.
-
True it's not only the graphics card that matters, but that card is rather... weak.
-

-

No problems in italy with that card :D
With high settings I get ~35 fps. Not that much but the game is heavy..
-
True it's not only the graphics card that matters, but that card is rather... weak.
In comparison, maybe. The GTS 450 is a great card for what it is, and I've ran applications on it that I know are more demanding than Crysis 3 (IL2 Cliffs of Dover). :P
What CPU are you using? I'm guessing that might be your problem.
-
My CPU is rather hopeless, not to mention the rest. :bye:
Still an old E8400 3Ghz Core 2 Duo.
-
There's your problem. ;)
I'm sure the GTX560 will perform great in Crysis 3 it were to be put in my rig.
I'll let you know how it runs on my 2550K+GTS450 later today, and if not, tomorrow!
-
It's not the graphics card that matters only.
It is, more and more games are depending on graphic cards these days.
P.S. I was able to play Crysis 2 on ultra settings, in my i7 3630QM, GT650M 2GB. this is the first game ever for me to go below 20 FPS, and yeah, I play shit loads of games.
Crysis 2 :

So Crysis 3 is just either a shitty port like GTA IV/Since its still BETA, lots of improvements needs to be done, or I just didn't tweak the settings properly.
Autoaim on a FPS game... why even bother? :gd:
Some people like to play for fun, and not for proving they're better than others.
And I play with Xbox 360 controller as I mentioned, it sucks at aiming compared to mouse, and I'm not really trained with mouse that well. :D
-
It is, more and more games are depending on graphic cards these days.
Of course not. Everything counts, not only your graphics card.

And this is weird, this app says it should run better on my system than Devin's, but in reality it runs better on his. o.0

Do not forget that your GPU is onboard and made for notebooks. Means it hasn't got the same performance as an average GPU.
-
That's because my GPU simply is better. :D
-
Check the screen again, it clearly states the comparison between a GTS450 and GT650M, not GT650.
and Mark lrn2tech, I know a pc graphic card can out perform a laptop graphic card of same range, but the difference can never be so 'HUGE'.
A friend of mine has GT630, in his pc, and my GT650M clearly out performs his graphics by far.
GTX560/570, is a different story however, I'd say 500 series was sort of better than 600 series, as I can't notice much difference between my old laptop with a GT540M and this one.
P.S. I have Intel HD4000 on board, not the GT650.

The test shows mine is better, lets see real time results.

I don't get how people expect to play with proper FPS while they are using shitty netbook...
Netbook and laptops are not made for video gaming, even if they sell it "GTX848484M ULTIMATE GAMING LAPTOP" blabla.. It's marketing.
-

I'd like you to say that to the makers of these (http://www.alienware.com/Landings/laptops.aspx).
I do not have a netbook, you really need to understand the difference. Maybe this might help you. :devroll:

Yup, that's mine ^^
And why do I expect to play with proper FPS? Two reasons :
1) Cause I paid a handsome amount of money for this ultrabook, for the same amount I could easily make a rig with i5 and GTX570.
2) Mobility
Now, Seriously, even right now I'm sitting under my blanket playing games and answering your posts, looking at the hailstorm going on outside from my window, while you sit on your chair out in cold, checking that old ugly looking box of yours, freezing.
During daytime, I like to sit under the sun, relax and play games, I highly doubt your box will survive that. Also I like taking my laptop out, to my designing classes, far off vacations and what not, I highly doubt you can do the same with your box.
I play games while in car too, when bored.
and well it looks good too, just yesterday I was playing both GTA IV SP and SA:MP together on this at the same time. Didn't affect either, it was able to handle both really well.
I'm more of a guy who prefers looks, mobility and power combined, I'd always leave a bit of power if I get something much better looking and light.
-
I got my doubts that you ever opened a laptop, since you're talking nonsense.
You can't have a GT650's power because you simply haven't got the cooling for it since your laptop in boxed at 6 pieces of plastic. Not forgetting the head your I7 brings and the ram and your harddisk.
I highly doubt your laptop got good fans due the fact it's as tiny as shit.
Please, I got 1 computer and 1 notebook and I'm not in the mood to game on my holidays when I'm somewhere. If I did use my laptop it would be to check my email etc.
The 500 serie is indeed a bit better then the 600, but the 660 overrates and serieusly fucks the 500 serie.
Post Merge: February 04, 2013, 08:35:00 pm
And you're funny btw, the Intel 3000 thing is builded inside your I7. The GT650M is a chip placed (most of the cases, might be a small PCI Express port, still shit rate).
-
Say that after your laptop burnt :poke:
OMG My laptop is going to burn at these temps (ofc, taken while gaming)
and well, No more 14 FPS, with latest BETA drivers got an FPS boost of around 10, with 22-24 FPS. Sadly these BETA drivers work well on Crysis 3 but fuck up GTA IV at highest with FPS fluctuating between 22-64. I prefer a stable 32.
Do remember ping also affects FPS, as mine was 320 while playing it. ;)

Check my FB, I actually did open up my old laptop.
and again, check the screenshot above of the gaming temps of my laptop, this one is cooler than old one. Highest it ever hit was 74C.
and dude, 3rd gen i7, 2.5inch HDD, and separate bay for RAM, no place for cooling? wtf are you talking about?
i7 and GT650M barely take any place at all, as they are more of 'nano sizes' with GT650M using 28nm kepler technology.
15.6 inches isn't tiny, but mobile. I could go for a 17.3 inch Dell/Alienware, but dude, I can't even imagine how heavy they would be.
Also I already beated your system in windows experience index epicly. :devroll:

I ain't a gamer, the end.
650 is the lowest, putting the M with it makes it worser.
Anyway. I'm missing a GPU temperature there.

450 looks lowest. ;)
and where are the 640, 630, 620 and 610? (in desktop one) o.0 That graph seems a bit outdated..
Yes, you missed GPU temp cause I quitted game and took the temps right after, thanks to optimus technology normal apps don't use NVIDIA high end graphics processor to save power. Will post later, but back on topic, this is a Crysis 3 discussion, not graphic card one, and Mark.. you seem a little bit off topic with your posts.
Anyway to end it, the gist by NVIDIA itself is -
GT640 = GT650M, GT650 = GT660M
So GT650M > GT630
or that's how they market products.
All I can say is, I can't wait for Sal to try it out and post his screenshots, I just hope he doesn't try being a bit too smart by editing them tho and posts honest results.
-
605 to 640 is mostly made for low range.
650 --> 690 is rather middle/high. Where yours is middle. And no, the table is up to date since the 690 is added.
-
Dude, 630 is mid range too, it costs fuckin $219 and most people here go for that one.
-
Take the mostly part in considering please :)
-
Mark, I really wonder what are you doing here, either download Crysis 3 and try it out or stop sticking your leg where it does not belong when you probably haven't even played any of the Crysis games. :poke:
-
Spend as much money as you like on a laptop, at the end of the day it's still a laptop.

Back on topic please.

Had a try on my xbox but I'm not a fan of these kind of games. Graphics looks amazing though, but as the guy in that video says, it looks better for PC for SURE.
-
Played for another good while until my origin needed to update. Gotta say I'm the best there is! Got MVP several times in crash site mission :D
And found several hiding spots as a CELL Operative in Hunter missions. :p
Call me a fuckin camper, but guess I'm just great at surviving.
-
Ok whatever you guys were saying about GT650M and how shitty laptops are, seems like it was a problem with my internet connection as I was playing with a 144 kbps connection before, thanks to FUP, just got back to 21mbps this morning and WOOOHOOOOOO!!
40+ FPS at HIGH settings! Nothing beats my laptop! :D

Yeah man, except for, you know, any proper gaming desktop.
Sorry for bursting your bubble, but Alienware is overpriced crap made by Dell.

This.
It would really be unfair to compare my GTS 450 to any gaming laptop's videocard. The technology is just inferior at this point in time. There might be a chance that in the future, there'll be videocard technologies that are based on mobility and therefore can be used to the max in a laptop, but as of yet, they're just regular videocards, made to just about 'fit' into a laptop, being unable to use the full potential of the ICs on them.
-
Hi Sal,
Taken 20 seconds ago, I had different settings before. Synchronized with the settings in your screen this time.

Also my ping before was 230, this time it was 193, Maybe ping makes an affect too?
How much was your ping?
-
No idea what my ping was. I don't see how internet connection affects the performance of a CPU/GPU.
-
Ping should in no way affect graphics as they're player side.
-
Ping should in no way affect graphics as they're player side.
I actually experienced this sometimes.. especially in WoT. This happens with a really, really high ping though..
-
That all depends if the game is loading map details from the server or the game itself.
Just like SA:MP with custom objects.
-
Alrighty then, proved GT650M > GTS450 :D
Will be posting some sexy screens soon. GTA IV and this are the two games I been playing a lot lately. :D
