A Swiss tourist on a cycling tour with her husband was raped by four men on Friday night in Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state famed for its ancient temples and palaces, the police said.
The woman, 39, and her husband, were camping in dense forest about 400 yards from a road near the town of Datia when they were attacked by seven or eight men, said Dalip Arya, deputy inspector general of police for the Chambal area of Madhya Pradesh State in a telephone interview. The woman was raped by four of the men, Mr. Arya said.
The couple were making their way from Orchha to Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal, the police said. The journey was part of a cycling tour from Mumbai to New Delhi. They were in India on a three-month tourist visa, Mr. Arya said.
The incident is the latest example of violent sexual attacks of women in India. Reported rapes have risen in recent years, and reports of gang rape are becoming increasingly prevalent, particularly in Northern India. In December, a 23-year-old student was raped by five men and a juvenile on a moving bus in New Delhi, and later died from her injuries. That incident prompted widespread protests in India and demands that the government do more to protect women.
The Swiss woman and her husband were brought to a nearby police station at 10:45 p.m. by a motorcyclist they stopped on the road, Mr. Arya said. The woman had to travel 85 kilometers (53 miles) away to Gwalior, a nearby city that was once the seat of generations of ruling royalty, for a medical examination, he said.
“We are interrogating 20 suspects, but nobody has been arrested yet,†he said. Officials did not release the woman’s name.

Not the first case where a foreign tourist was gang raped in India . I actually feel unsafe every time when my female relatives they travel alone anywhere.
-
I'm quite sure the same would happen in any country of the world, not just India.
A woman camping in middle of forest, what more can you expect?
-
:wow:
I'm quite sure the same would happen in any country of the world, not just India.
Yeap

P.S.
The incident is the latest example of violent sexual attacks of on women in India.
Truth be told, India is getting a bad image just because of all the hype in international media after that gang rape on the 23rd.
There're several countries which have twice and even four times more rape cases each year compared to India.
USA, South Africa, Sweden, Australia, UK are just a few of those.

Same here.

Gang rape is very, very different to rape.

I'm curious, did you read your own source? Because in both sets of statistics the UK was below India.

True
-
Sick world we live in. They should cut of their dicks and forcefeed them with it.
-
Sad to hear. It would happen everywhere and not just India, I believe that. Indeed a sick world we live in, Ernst.
-
Oh God...Monsters living among us!!
-
Simply disgusted with peoples behavior and absolute lack of simple morals and ethics.

No, I looked at the rape rate ;)
Number of rapes in a year compared to the population of the country.
Can't really blame the cops or laws for it, as they serve over 1 billion people.
People are the one to be blamed, despite all the protests and what not. I bet you, not a single one of them is gonna even try to help a woman in trouble over here, or in most parts of the world.
However, there are a few exceptions. That's a major reason I started working out again and learning MMA. I ain't gonna sit down and watch such stuff happen.

Saw the news on YouTube and was just reading some of the comments. Unbelievable how ignorant some people are - classic "keyboard warrors" under the impression that this is some isolated case only to be found in India.
It could've happened anywhere and it does happen everywhere, which is sad. Worse things have happened in the so called "civilised world" where these keyboard warriors live. Some news stories have said that the reported number of rape cases have increased in India. Key word being "reported", it's not that suddenly people have become monstrous or have become abnormal in that country, but it's something that is an unfortunate threat across the world.
-
I live in M.P, and even i am afraid of going into the forests, even though most of the threats are eliminated.
That isnt even the surface, there are "blind turns" where you make a turn and hope that there is no other car on the other side, there are waterfalls here that claim more people in a week than Niagra falls in a year.
Travelling by night through a abandoned area is risky, let alone somebody from a foreign country who the natives havent seen in their entire lives and have many curiosities about...

The suspects deserve to die.

They probibly will, look at the gang rape incident before this, arnt most of the rapists dead?

Isn't rape punishable by the death sentence there anyway? So if they weren't killed afterwards they will be now
