Title: More Realism
Post by: STALKER41 on May 06, 2013, 09:08:01 pm
My main idea is:
I think that /c area,/c speed,/c alt and /c car should be limited to medics, cops and firemen only (and admins).Same with /c hp.
All player icons should be disabled so nobody can be seen. That way /c area and /c call would have a much bigger use and same for CB.
This way custom skins can also be used as a sign for identifying people.

So that's it.

1. You might run into some issues by doing so, but I do understand your point behind it. It's an interesting idea. I'm not sure if I agree or disagree with it quite yet, though. It would need some further consideration.

2. This has been suggested many times throughout the community, and denied by the Server Owners for various reasons.

3. The custom skins thing is a pretty cool idea itself, but unfortunately isn't possible right now.

Argonath RPG has never been and will never be a substitute for real life. If you think it can be, then you're on the wrong server.

If you insist on turning the server into a copy of RL because your real life is not interesting enough, find another server.

Not needed. We have a huge range of commands already including the most important ones, /l, /me, /em.

Guys, don't bag on him simply for "realism". Realism doesn't necessarily mean strict RP or RL roleplay. He could simply mean, "this stuff makes more sense in terms of normal roleplay". It doesn't necessarily mean he's saying, "real life is the only way to roleplay".

Also, I think many of you have failed to read what board this is in, so good job on that.

Check the ideas in the first post, in addition to the topic title, and you will see that the context is clear. As if it wasn't bad enough that SA:MP had enough of these topics.

I agree here and disagree, they shouldn't be fully removed but less visible, like 10 meters away they start to be visible.

That does not make it an excuse to attack his ideas. Simply say why you think it's bad and move on. Don't imply he's stupid and worthless for suggesting something that you don't think follows Argo's design.

Removing the blips would be a huge change as it would affect the server at every level.

When someone is driving around the city while chilling on radio(which is the most common thing players do on the server), they usually drive towards the player blips in mini map hoping to find some RP activity. If blips are removed, all players would get scattered around the map forever alone. A new player with low patience would get bored and quit thinking that everyone is AFK. All role-play would be restricted to players who know each other already, as meeting new people would get harder. When it comes to chasing someone (copwork or whatever), that would impossible.

/c area is a common command. The rest that you mentioned are hardly used by citizens, so it is a minor change. I am not really sure about its consequences.

I think it's important to allow the game to stay very much a game while at the same time recognising the place for roleplay.

In the past the less realistic game features has not constrained roleplay, so hopefully this won't be a prob in future either.
There is the option to disable some of the features, so maybe if players wished to do that themselves they can, but it's not imposed on everyone.

For certain events sometimes the screen size is physically closed in and made smaller so that you cannot view the minimap etc., making it a bit more challenging to find other players. For special situations the options are available.

Attitude of several people in this topic is just plain disgusting. If you cannot control yourself, do not post thank you.

As for the ideas, removing blips is not a possibility due to new players. That is the only reason needed to reject the idea.

The commands listed in the first post are global for a reason, it'd be ridiculous to restrict them to specific groups.

Skins should not be used for identifying people (even tho' some are recognized by them, example me in hooker skin, klaus in the badass skin)

Realism =/= wants the server to be like real-life / srs RP / whatever shit you mentioned. Your OPINION of what the meaning of the first post is isn't needed in this topic, only a response to the idea itself. No need to start shitting on the player or telling them to leave because you don't like what they posted. Maybe you should consider leaving yourself if you cannot control your emotions in a mere idea topic...

Exactly what I was thinking. If blips were removed the server would become less welcoming to those who are not familiar with the gamemode, which counts for the majority of new players.

The graphics are amazing, but gameplay and story SUCK.
And PVP isn't allowed.

This way custom skins can also be used as a sign for identifying people.
Actually, changing the statement in one of my earlier posts.

The new scripts allow clothes shop to do "exclusive" sale for a single person to buy the skin they want whilst keeping the skin unavailable for others (atleast in his/hers shop).
