Title: Hybrid Cars
Post by: cchipscookies on May 24, 2013, 05:13:25 am
Hey,

So as GTA 4 is set in 2008, there are hybrid cars right? So I am suggesting that the fuel system should include hybrid cars. (For the fake Prius and the fake Escalade?). Maybe add an electricity percentage to the fuel gage.

Make the hybrid cars more expensive but it could use electricity first then fuel.

What do you say guys? Is this a good idea?

 :)

Thats great idea!

In fact, I had same idea some time ago, I really think it would be a great feature to have that. I'll make sure it will be considered for RS2.x  ;)

Well, thanks for reading!

I guess this would work, program wise (based on own experience). I would support this.

I support it as long as it is done on vehicles that would make sense to be hybrids. Just like IRL, you also have some vehicles that are available in both hybrid and non-hybrid models, so I'd suggest mixing it up too. :)

List of Hybrid Vehicles (feel free to add/remove)

1) Dilettante- Prius- for sure!
2) Cavalcade- Escalade Hybrid
3) Habanero- Lexus RX Hybrid

Any others?

Very nice idea.

Just a note: hybrid cars usually have an EZ mode but 90% of time both engines will be used at the same time. Therefore I'd just lower the fuel consumption of 30% for example.

Most hybrid cars' EV mode work when speeds are lower than 40MPH (around 65KM). So maybe when the user is driving at this speed or lower, it could use the electricity % purely.

But when the user is driving faster, it could use up the electricity % first then petrol?

No I think Batta's idea is better, specified cars using less fuel consumption

This would be very difficult to realize as you should put a limit to the engine power while using the EZ mode. Try driving an Escalade in EZ mode.. you will barely start :3

Ahahaha. I don't even understand why Caddy made the Escalade hybrid. I mean what good will a hybrid do with a 6 liter engine? haha.

Anyways, I like you idea too! :)

Also simply having a straight electric vehicle would be cool.
Something like
-100 miles per charge with more electric stations around the island just like in real life. It's cheaper but the cars are a little harder to find.
Like the Nissan Leaf

So instead of filling your car up with fuel on a petrol station within 2 minutes you want to plug it into a wall and wait 16 hours for it to charge up?

Doesn't Hybrid cars load their electrics if they drive with fuel??

Hybrids use electricity and fossil fuels.

Hybrid cars use a mix of electricity and gas, hence their name "hybrid". Electric vehicles only use electricity.

Well we all know that hybrid's are useless at using electricity efficiently. If anything they tend to use more fuel than normal cars :D

True. People drive hybrids because they like to been seen as "green". Not because they want to save fuel and the earth. I mean what good would a hybrid SUV with a 6 litre engine do?

Take the Escalade for an example.

Normal Escalade MPG- 13/18
Hybrid Escalade MPG- 20/23

It's not much of an improvement IMO. More expensive+more parts to repair. Why would anybody buy a Hybrid?
