He heads for the garage to get his car but is rushed before he can get in. He gets stabbed with a knife in the chest by a masked assailant, who quickly snatches the briefcase and flees the scene. A police vehicle arrives later after an anonymous call made to emergency services, and the man is announced dead. He is identified as Ri Chen, a local businessman. A woman is shot 10 minutes later in the neck and left for dead in an empty alleyway in the rural areas of the district. A man who was driving near that area heard the gunshot, then saw a masked man rushing out of the alleyway. He pulls over and looks around. He finds the woman, blood pouring out of her neck, and it didn't seem like she had a chance at survival. He notices one thing though: she was pregnant. He picks her up carefully and rushes in his car to the hospital. Shanghai, China Jinqiao District October 24th, 1974. 00:03 The dead body of Ri Chen is transported into the Fuzhouwan police station. Cause of death is confirmed as extreme loss of blood due to a knife wound. Time of death is predicted to be at 23:47 of the day before. A search is conducted for any clues at the garage, and drops of blood are found leading to a spot where a car was apparently parked, judging by the skid marks left by the tires. The police check CCTV recordings, but the assailant's face was hidden. They get a partial license plate number and car model and alert law enforcement. A pregnant woman is rushed into a hospital with a bleeding neck and she is quickly treated and immediately taken to undergo preterm birth. She survives throughout and is shown her new-born baby. The baby is then put into a human incubator. Shanghai, China Jinqiao Hospital, Jinqiao District October 24th, 1974. 05:42 A man enters Fuzhouwan police station and admits to murdering Ri Chen, but refuses to disclose of the reasons. He provides evidence of his being at the garage at the time of the murder and turns in the murder weapon. The man is known only as one of the men working for the Ying Dynasty. The case is closed and the man is sent to court. Sarah Chen, American, wife to Ri Chen, is announced dead after birth complications coupled with a severe wound in the neck. She was able to name her newborn; the name she chose was: Jessica. Hong Kong, China Sai Kung District May 15th, 1995 Jessica Chen, adopted daughter of Xu and Mei Li, escapes her house after finding out her history and how her parents had been murdered on the same day. She finds on the internet in old documents that a person associated with the Ying Dynasty had been responsible for her father's death, while her mother's killer was still at large. Infuriated, she digs up info on the Dynasty and discovers that they had moved to the US to escape the government. She buys a one-way ticket to the States, and starts recruiting people using her fortune.
