Hello guys. I want to buy a new graphic card and i can't decide which one i should take.
What do you think?
-
GTX Titan of course... >.>

GTX Titan of course... >.>
Okay, thanks Charlie. ;)
-
Simply because it is a very very powerful GPU. May be expensive but it is better than the 7970 in almost any way. Make sure you also take a look at the new GTX 780 - almost as powerful at less price. :)
-
The Titan has double the memory of the HD7970, is able to process more at a single time than the HD 7970 too and overall is more powerful.
Now the next thing to consider is your PSU, CPU and RAM, if those aren't reasonably powerful the card will be insanely bottle-necked.
-
RAM: 4GB DDR3
CPU: Core I7-970 6-Core 3.2GHz
-
You wouldn't exactly want your graphics card to have more memory than your PC has, if you were to get a Titan I would suggest upgrading your Ram to at least 8GB.
-
I will do that.
Thanks for the info Devin :)

Anything more than 4GB will add no performance at all. It will just be a waste of money.
It doesn't matter how much memory a GPU has. It is mainly used for higher resolutions.
4GB ram with that card is perfectly good.
-
Why run a large GPU along with CPU when you have only 4GB of ram? He may as well install 32bit Windows at the same time as 64bit uses 1gb of ram on idle to begin with.

Because any more than 4GB will not add any performance.
The only reason why people may use more ram is to be "future proof", but no build can be future proof really.

I am an AMD user
and the Titan.. CLEARLY the titan, even tho it costs double, but it has double.. well almost double the power
-
Yeah lol... 6GB DDR5 RAM of GPU and 4GB DDR3 computer memory, sounds funny lol..
You're better of with another 4 gigs for RAM.
-
The CPU which he has, the i7 970 has 6 cores, now those 6 cores all share the tiny amount of 4gb of ram, by increasing the ram amount, each core will be able to process more at a higher rate of speed, you may say it won't increase performance but I say otherwise.
Try this, say each core has an equal slice of the RAM to occupy in this scenario, each of the 6 cores will only have 682 MB of RAM to use, by increasing the amount of Ram to 8 GB, each core will then be able to use 1.36 GB of ram, if it happened to spread the Ram equally between all of the cores.
Not to mention the CPU also runs 12 separate threads, the more Ram, the more processing ability there is, the more data is able to be transferred across to and from the processor at a single moment thus leading to increased response time and performance hand in hand.

I'll buy 4gb of RAM. Found one store in Novi Sad where i can buy it for 90euros.

I stand by my point. More ram will not increase his performance.
If you say it does, I'd like to see footage of that.
-
Relax guys.
There is no need to be upset.
-
When buying new Ram, ensure the CL rating matches what you're already running, as well as the speed of the ram of course.

Thanks Devin. Actually thanks everybody. You helped me a lot. ;)

Performance, it can increase and it might not, but multitasking ability it will definitely help with, along with memory intensive games an applications as I doubt he would consider getting a Titan to play Minecraft and GTA SA only.

It's true that more than 4GB ram is likely to improve multitasking, but is better multitasking worth the 90eu? Comes down to personal preferences I guess.
-
If he's looking at purchasing a Titan, I shouldn't think 90eu will break his wallet...
-
Get AT LEAST 6gb of RAM
4 is just not enough, your shit will go up to 3.5 every time you open more than two or three programs on Windows 7, so get more
also the Titan is like a thousand dollars, obviously the best GPU right now
-
I just hope his power supply can even provide enough for that card. :conf:
-
I think i have 700W.

Devin u so smart and sexy <3

that's a lot of cash for only 4gb of ram
if im not mistaken 8gb (2 sticks of 4 each) brand new cost around 40-50 euros

This is the cheapest i found

You don't need to directly buy it at a store.
Buy it from Newegg.com (probably the most popular hardware site) or Ebay.
I'd give you a link but I don't know what type of ram you want / need.
-
I'll try to find it.
Thanks crook. ;)

No, no.. and did I forget to mention; No.
A pair of 4GB DDR3 is roughly worth 40Euros (Got my set for 35 Euros for example...) So don't even think about spending 90E for 4GB, It's a rip-off.
-
I found it for 50 euros and i can't find cheaper.
I'll try to look more but i don't think i will be able to find cheaper.
-
Prices do vary for electronics across different countries, try going to a few computer stores and pricing the required Ram to get an idea of the different shops prices.
-
Already bought 4gb of RAM for 50euros and i bought GTX Titan.
I play AC 3 on max without any lag. It's just awesome :D
