Hello people, for the past 2 days i experienced Black screen of death on my windows 8. But i found an ultimate solution while trying to solve it with just task manager and opening up an internet browser.
I really thought it has something to do with drivers or something, first time i tried and it worked was opening task manager > File > run a new task > explorer.exe
Dont go desperate if it doesnt work. While in task manager, go to the STARTUP tab and find your avast. Right click on it and click on OPEN FILE LOCATION.
A window of a map should open. Spot your AVASTUI.EXE file and double-click it. Avast should open. Go to Security > Behavior Shield > Settings > Trusted processes. You now need to add 2 windows process .exe files which should do the trick. These are the directories you should browse for or just copy-paste them in the boxes IF you have windows installed on the same disk / path.
C:\Windows\explorer.exe
C:\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel\SystemSettings.exe
THEN UNCHECK THE BOX > MONITOR THE SYSTEM FOR UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS.
AFTER THIS, LOGOUT and LOGIN back again, you have your desktop back.
Thank you for paying close attention, might not be the best tutorial but i tried my best. It worked for me, hopefully will work for you. Its not just for avast users, the first option might work for anyone else. Your antivirus might have similar options so try it aswell.

This issue was later fixed in an update by the Avast! team. It is strongly recommended you undo the fixes listed here, and update your Avast! immediately.
