Harddisk space remaining?

-
the long iuhr91df93y9rfh23irh folders are temporary itnernet files.. i.e. Cookies etc. Try downloading AVG Off Download.com a great 100% virus remover

Right-click "my computer" and select "properties". In the General tab you will find your system specs.
For the video card, right click the desktop, select "properties" and choose the settings tab. There you will see "Monitor X in Video Card Y" (X and Y are their names) I suppose you are using WinXP.
Btw I love ur avatar <3

It can be a number of things but before you crack open the pc and start cleaning it (Watti not everyone knows whats what INSIDE a pc )just check if its not SOFTWARE thats the problem (I think its software !)
A few tips : 1 check the processes you are running (rihtclick on the taskbar select taskmanager look in the low left corner it says :Processes nr , CPU use nr , memory use nr
now look at the processes , how many are running , whats the CPU usage (its a percentage of your total processor power) and look at the memory use
now if you have a lot of processes running (roughly more then 50 /60 ) this coiuld use a lot of memory AND /or cpu . If you see that the cpu usage is high EVEN idle just at the desktop , you might just have installed a lot of toolbars etc or are running a aplication inthe background . ! but it can also be a firewall that is using a function that is eating up all your cpu . It realy can be a lot of things .
Are you on TS , because that is a great way to give support , now I am no Expert , but i have decent hard /software knowlage and I can probably help . In the case I can not I think Sickness is more than happy to help you on Msn , but trust me ts goes super fast (if your pc can still run it ?)
One tip before hand : are you one of those guys who never shuts the pc Down ? this is not good , a lot of processes are automaticly started when you run programms and are not always shut down after closing the programm , It is therefore important you REBOOT your pc regularly . this shuts those processes down
Learning the use of the taskmanager is very important , in most cases it helps you find the problem .as it tells you what processes are using the cpu / memory and if they are in fact using it all .
-
god damnit lol the guy abouve me beat me to the task manager ideas.

I often run my computer with virtually no USER proccesses working, just AVG, explorer and w.e program ims using. Makes for much better performance. But I do not recommend that if you don't need to.
Last time u said AVG found 24k threats. After removing/quarrentine all those, how did your pc perform compared to before?
-
1.defrag hardrives
2. virus scan (Not spybot or anything use Avast! or sumthin)
3. restart
4. uninstall any unused games/programs
if that doesnt work
5. uninstall any Mods you installed in the recent past (some cause short term and/or long term harm. right away or over time)

Shouldn't defrag be last?

Shouldn't defrag be last?
Depends.
Most the time when clearinf disk space u shoudl defrag first so its easier ti uninstall.
makes it faster and easier
-
Oh so it makes the whole proccess easier. However, imo i would preffer better results than making the proccess faster so i would still go for defrag last
Alternatively you could do twice, first and last

HOLY SHIT :O
Faster solution:
Format your PC but before put on a Pen(nny-drive) or at a DVD/CD ur most important things.
Or do anything to clean the PC and do smth!! 24000 threats is way too much.

-
how?
Which?
DVD/CD Writing
Or formatting PC?
Formatting PC:
I dont rly know, try the Windows XP disc.
DVD/CD Writing:
Be Sure to have a CD/DVD Writer, then, in Nero or any other disc "burner", put there ur things. Like Stiff said, recovery disc/BACKUP disc.
Or get a Pen(ny-drive) then put it on an USB thing on ur PC then copy/cut the things u rly need.
