Title: Manning sentenced to 35 years

US soldier Bradley Manning has been jailed for 35 years for passing a trove of military and diplomatic secrets to the WikiLeaks website. The military judge at Fort Meade in Maryland convicted the 25-year-old last month of 20 offences, including six violations of the Espionage Act. He could have been sentenced to 90 years in prison. In the military courtroom, Judge Col Denise Lind announced that Pte Manning’s rank would be reduced before he is dishonourably discharged from the US Army. He would also be made to forfeit a portion of his pay. Prosecutors had asked for at least 60 years behind bars. Manning's lawyer suggested the soldier should receive no more than 25, due to the fact that by then, some of the documents Manning leaked will have been declassified. Pte Manning showed no emotion as the sentence was delivered. As guards hurried him out of the courtroom, some of his supporters shouted, “We'll keep fighting for you, Bradley” and “You're our hero.”

This is one of those cases where I can see from both sides but I can't really make a judgement on which side to be on. I think he's right to be sentenced as what he has done has damaged some relationships the US has with it's allies which is a potentially dangerous thing. But again he has exposed some abuse of power at the highest levels in government and military, including that of killing innocent people, which needs to be highlighted and corrected immediately.

Sentence for Murder: 10-20 years
Sentence for Rape: 5-15 years
Sentence for Sharing information: 35-60 years

America apparently doesn't care about the privacy of their citizens, but sends the army on your ass if their privacy gets endangered.

Way to go.

Breivik will be re-sentenced when the 21 years end though. The 21 year cycle will repeat itself until he's dead basically.

And US Americans think they live in the land of the free, the best country in the world.
Yeah right, when will they wake up? Most of them claim to have guns because they are scared of their government, I mean what 'greatest country in the world' would spy on all it's citizens, and scare them so much that they all need to have guns, not to mention the fact they jail murderers and rapists for less time than someone who reveals crimes of the USA's government, I'm confused on the USA's personality, the adverts on the TV tell me it's the land of dreams, but honestly, in my dreams, not everyone has a gun, my holiday phone calls to my mother arn't recorded and heroes don't get jailed for more time than a murderer. WHAT A GREAT COUNTRY MAN.
