Title: GTA IV
Post by: Mircea_Niko on August 31, 2013, 04:28:12 pm
   Hello people,

I got a problem with GTA IV. Even with commandline, it is still working VERY hard. I can't set to the settings I would like to have. Here is my system information. If you could find anything wrong in here, I may be able to replace it. I just want to know what causes the problem and why:

PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor, 2800 Mhz, 2 Cores, 2 Logical Processors
RAM: 4GB
Physical Memory: 3 GB; Available: 1,88
Virtual Memory: 6 GB; Available: 4,47
Page File Space: 3 GB
32 b
System Type: x86-based PC
NVidia GEForce G100

  Thanks in advance!

I think that your GPU might cause you trouble. It is just not enough powerful to run the game fluently. Its bus width is only 64 bits and the memory speed - DDR2. Checking its PassMark bench result shows only 104 which isn't really great - http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=GeForce+G100&id=43. Of course this only my personal assumption. Let's see what others think.

Page file isn't really going to help at all with GTA IV, nor is the graphics card you're currently using.
The biggest downfall of your current system is that graphics card, it was not and will never be able to perform well as a gaming card.
The Ram is adequate and so is the CPU.

Devin is correct. Your video card is definitely the cause of your problems. The only way you can resolve this is to replace the video card with a more powerful one.

As the solution has been given previously, this will now be locked.

If you have any further questions regarding obtaining a video card capable of running the above listed game, please create a new topic.
