Hey !
I don't know how many people are gonna read this message but still, It's been a very long time I should have posted this up and since I'm planning on coming back, I'm doing it now. Better late than never right ?
So it's been a while you haven't seen me on any argonath server, I think the last time I connected to SAMP was at the end of 2008, so a very big time as you can imagine. But between 2006 and 2008, I was a regular of argonath RPG, had the pseudo of Jack_Shelton and then, Ahito_sleepgoal. I would connect every evenig and spend hours playing with people coming from eveywhere, using Englisgh in the process, obviously. So I started to take a big interest in Shakespeare's tongue, working harder and harder to be abble to communicate properly on argonath. Then, when I left Argonath, this passion I had acquired for English didn't drop, I kept studying to be the best in English in my class, then went to university to study English before getting my degree in english. And here I am today, after one year spent in Dublin and two days from starting a master to become an English teacher.
In short, my life wouldn't have been the same without argonath RPG and I'd like to thank it's creator for this, Gandalf, but also any other admin that were already part of the team back in the days. Also thank you for keeping the community up, allowing me to get back in time, 5 years ago when I was this teenage kid having a hard time understanding anything or anyone xD
In conclusion, thank you argonath, and I'll see you again soon ;)

np bro.

This is what argonath is about.

When people tell me that argo does not give a shit to you, I directly point out to things like these. Argonath is more then a samp server, you would only imagne how much this community can help you evolve as a person.
Well said, Raiden
-
This community gave me more discipline then my family did :D
-
Well said man!
I even myself didn't know what does fart mean, untill i heard it in argonath.
-
I see we both learned English the same place :)
Improved myself a whole lot more at expressing myself in English on Argonath than I ever did at school.
I thank you for this wonderful reminder, and I wish you the best in your future endeavours!
-
Same here on other servers there isnt /helpchat on argo i learned half my english... Thanks to everyone Rained stated

I myself think, that around 10 percent, and maybe even 20 percent, learned/improved their english by playing on Argonath, my first unban request was made with google translator! Probably, without Argonath, I would never been able to have a 9 (A) for the past years in my english class. I enjoy speaking english over my main language, and I am developing english faster, and easier then my main language, I think I even understand more things in english then I do in dutch. Yet in French and German, I suck :P So ye, Argonath helped me too, and without Argonath, I would be a even bigger failure then I already am! So also from me, thanks Argonath, and good luck with your master!

Great to see I'm not the only one.
A few days ago I had to write a short essay for English class and as it's rare for a Moroccan Dutchman to write in proper English, my teacher didn't believe I wrote it myself and accused me of cheating, lying and whatnot.
He gave me a pen and some paper and told me to summarize my essay. I started writing while he was reading with me over my shoulder. Half way he told me to stop, asked for the class' attention and eventually gave me a public apology. He asked me where I learned English and I told him 'internet', haha.
I have to say my English has improved since I joined Argonath. Thanks for that.

A similar situation happened to me this year. My teacher couldn't believe me, so he ordered me to "speak out my mind" in English. Of course, I did what he told me and he was impressed by my fluency. Now I'm the straight A student in all the 8th grade classes in my school. Probably in my city/country but I have no sufficient evidence.
Thank you, Argonath RPG! My brother thanks you too! Now, he's the straight A student!

Another positive thing about games
-
I gathered the balls to check my first posts and how terrible my English was... ArgonathRPG helped me enhance my English and relationships with people over the internet... Ones that lasted for around 4 years now... Such a great topic indeed.
-
Welcome Back Mate, that is why Argonath is so special and awesome.

Nice to see another similar story to mine, Same goes for me of course. I started playing online games by the age of 12, 2006 I started off by VC-MP, My English back then were as poor as those new to computers who use caps and not even grammar at least. Eventually I came to Argonath's VC-MP, whereas I started seeing people using English, trying to copy them.. By the time I expanded to SA-MP I was ready to have a full conversation with anybody, but then again nothing superior as my English was still poor, just basic knowledge! Besides the online gaming, I used to attend English classes on which I successfully passed exams, earning my self 2 English Degrees, (ECCE and both ECPE), Having ECPE certificate/degree on my hands currently means I am eligible of teaching English, however I can admit that I can't really do that. I know the verbs and everything by use and I can't remember each individually as an 'domain'. For example, I can't do the thing whereas you recognize if a verb is Present Simple or Present Continuous, I know them at use but not as theory! (Same for everything else I have ever learned, due to some type of dyslexia I can only remember things as by their usage, but not as in theory and besides that I have trouble organizing my texts and dividing them into paragraphs)
Doesn't really matter to me, Argonath was one of the main reasons I wanted to learn English! That is to communicate with other people, in a place which eventually I started calling a second home! Having so many friends, sharing stories and experiences as if nobody else in real life would!
Hail Argonath! :)
-
This is awesome, well done pal!
-
Keep rockin on mate!
-
It was my pleasure! ... O.o
-
Argonath also helped me become a better person. The discipline and professionalism I acquired in the server from knowledgeable folks had me think to a new level. Anyways welcome back!
-
I wouldn't have so many Facebook friends without Argonath.
Thank you Gandalf.

I did not have a good relation with my English teacher at the beginning of my 3rd year. The first two years English were terrible for me, as there were constant troubles occurring. (sickness, leaving, pregnancy etc)
My English grade was very low and I never succeeded to get a good grade. Then I started playing Argonath.
So at the end of the 3rd year, after a year of playing Argonath, the teacher asked me the following: ''How did you develop such English skills in less than a year?'' I said that his lessons were very good and I made all my homework. Oh that guy was happy to hear this.

This is what I love about the internet, we are one of the many communities, and we help eachother, this is what the Internet is all about.
-
Argonath (gaming as a whole) has improved my english alot over the years, I joined Argonath also in the year of 2007 and I must admit, it improves your english faster and more efficiently than school does.

School is crap at teaching languages, I learned German through watching Spongebob Square pants when I was like.. 8 , but the problem is I forgot everything by now.. why? because I switched to online gaming, and since than.. I guess english just became a part of my life.. I even speak half slovene and half english some times, just because english is so much easier..
