Hello fellow Argonath IVMP players,
I'd like to inform you that I, Alfred_Monroe, have found a solution to fix the constant and annoying crashes for your client when in Argonath RPG server.
First of all, you have to understand that crashes is not the fault of the server or its scripts, it's fault of the client. The client is basically not able to handle heavier scripts and is unstable itself in particular. All of the servers crash and there is nothing IVMP Argonath devs can do about it, except for wait for a new client that IVMP team has promised.
I have expierenced that crashes are very annoying, because unlike SAMP, IVMP client requires more time to load because it has an in-game like interface, so after you crash, you have to re-go into the IVMP, wait for it to load, then wait for the server to load and so on. However, after playing around a little I have found out how to fix the crash.
Go to your LaunchIVMP.exe, press right mouse button on it - then go to properties, click on the compatibility tab, then click on run in compatibility mode, choose "Windows 98/ME" and also click on Run as Administrator. Apply, OK.
This method will make you immune to crashes. Once I did this , I have no longer crashed at all. However, the downside of this method is that
it drastically decreases the games performance. It's playable, however it has a FPS lag and game doesn't run smoothly, so people who already had lag issues while playing the game , while using this method might not be able to play at all. However, it's worth trying it.
If you have came up with something that works and doesn't decrease performance, let us know!

Tried it, game wont even launch.

Tried this, still crashes :(
-
I've tried this. The game will still work and it might help for some people. But for me it didn't make any big difference.

That is probably because you did it on LaunchGTAIV.exe, not LaunchIVMP.exe
If that doesnt work, try clicking on it again and again until it launches. It just happens to me too sometimes that the game refuses to launch.
I dont know, but this method has prevented me from crashes. I dont crash at all anymore.

Okay I can say without a doubt now, that this does work. Win98 Compatibility.
-
works for me too

This helps a lot. Ye, game is a much more laggy then usual but better that then crashing all the time :P
Tnx for this R. :)

Game didn't even start in 98/Me mode, XP Service Pack 3 fixed it for me.
-
98/ME reduced FPS for the 80%.. I'll give a try to XP SP3 although I'm not really into loosing smoothness :3
-
If I put to 98.. it says it needs at least windows xp sp 2/3..
and if I put to XP SP2/3... my processor temperature goes up to 60 C :|

You need to re-think your cooling there on your processor Mihail. lol.
I crash on joining the server. Compatibility mode has not helped.
I re-installed GTA IV and reformatted my hard drive aswell(Needed to be done anyway lol).

Mine can reach 90c in extreme situations thanks to the stock cooler -.-
-
No other compatibility modes will help.. only windows 98. So you have to choose either loosing some FPS or constantly crashing.
-
I don't think you really need this compatibility mode anymore. After the final adjustments done by the scripters the game is way more stable than before.
-
I fixed the crashes by uninstalling the game and not re-installing it.

Even dough the temperature is still around 60 C when I play.. it doesn't lag at all because I switched to windowed mode and lowered resolution. Now the crashes are also quite rare ^^
I think it's not because of cooling because the moment I turn off GTA it lowers down to 45 C in matter of 30-40s D:

loooool.. rendering HD raw videos? xD

Couldn't agree more. I've put on default and game is working just fine now :)
