Title: 9/11 - Remembered
Post by: Teddy on September 11, 2013, 05:23:05 pm
Feels so long ago to say, 12 years ago today the United States was forever changed. In fact, the world was changed by what would still to this day be the most horrific attack against the United States on its soil in its only few hundred years around. An empty September sky was turned into a darkened bloom of smoke, a memory of planes hitting building forever burned into our memories. Yet, many of the hardest parts are ones we have not seen. The families growing up missing a farther, a son, a daughter or a mother, and all the events that came along without them there to see and embrace with the rest of their loved ones.

Regardless if you believe it was a government planned attack, or legitimate terrorist carried out the attack there is one common truth. Innocent men, women and children were killed who had nothing to do with the planning, or execution of this attack. People who simply didn't deserve to die, people carrying out their rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

Of the many who died, they were firefighters and policemen who ran in to where so many fled. All in attempt to save lives even while placing their own lives in extreme danger only to pay the ultimate sacrifice. Today resembles a day in America of patriotism, unity, and friendship regardless of color, gender, sexual orientation. Today we remember not who carried out the attack, who was blamed for the attack, or even the government who was attacked. We remember those innocent civilians simply going about their day, when it was tragically cut short.

I remember being in the 4th grade when this attack took place. We were sitting in the corner of the room listening to the teacher read a story.  The principle walked in and whispered something to the teacher, within a few minutes our school building went into a lockdown. After a while buses returned tot he school and we were all sent home. Being only a young child, I couldn't understand what had happened. Today, I know what happened, I understand the tragedy that took place, the lives that were lost, the heroic actions of those on flight 93 whose actions saved even more lives.

Today should be a day of peace, and remembering. Not of violence and debate, today as I said is to remember the innocent victims who lost their lives and those who risked their lives to save even more. Today is a day, I'm proud to be an American.

Why don't you make topics like this when people in e.g Syria die?

I'm American, not Syrian, if a Syrian here wants to create a topic then I'm all for it and my support and thoughts would be with them as they already are. There is no denial or debate that I'm against innocent people dying around the world. I've always been outspoken in these matters, trust me when I say my sympathy goes out to those in Syria, Egypt and the many more locations around the world who suffer innocently at the hand of terrorism either domestic, foreign or government.

May the sacrifice of all the first responders on this tragic day in history never be forgotten, true hero's are the ones who are running towards disaster while everyone else is running away from it. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the men and women around the globe in the fight to stop global terrorism.

9/11
Never Forget

I still remember I came home from school in my old house, and it was on the news. It was 12 years ago, but I remember it perfectly.

My heart goes out to all the lives that were lost.
And god was certainly watching over my family that day because my sister had an appointment there that day, but she couldn't make it.

God bless

Never forget 9/11.

Twelve years ago. I was six years old and my dad stood in the kitchen to make me pancakes. The TV was on and the swedish news reporter announced an airplane had crashed into one of the towers of the World Trade Center. My dad stood infront of our TV for couple of hours, turned the stove off and I didn't got lunch. Guess what I was focusing on? My pancakes. I have pretty much guilt for that, even though I was six and you do prioritize yourself at that age but I had more focus on my pancakes then those who jumped from the 101st floor because they knew they wouldn't survive. That makes me feel guilt.

I visited New York and Manhattan in July this year. Last place to visit was the memorial plaza and it is such an amazing area. It is amazing they have managed to re-build it so perfect, even though it will not be as perfect as it once was. The new tower is astonishing and the design is perfect. The sun will never stop to light Ground Zero up as soon as it is shining.

May the victims rest in peace.
