Well, his son, my granddad was a child doctor and worked in a practise in Haiti, where me mum was born in '67. Neither mi madre, nor mis aunts/uncles have any relation to medical work. Indeed, genetics tend to skip a generation, for example everybody says I look extremely similar to my grandfather Maarten, outside AND inside, as in personality.
I thought about becoming a doctor in the past, but the way hospitals and medical care are used nowadays kindoff hold me back. It's no fun helping a poor soul live to see another day, when that poor souls turns poor, LITERALLY, because of it..
On the other hand I have thought about becoming a paramedic, simply taking care of the first response/aid measures.
