AFAIK it's listed that it has 1GB and can go to 2 with "TurboCache", which may most likely be that the other is shared.

Haven't really thought of that one.

Use the edit button in the future. There is no reason to quadruple post like that.

As for the topic, it sounds like you were using bad drivers, and the new OS contained fresh, working ones. Remember to always use updated drivers when you can. Using the ones from the discs included with your hardware are almost always outdated by the time you purchase the product.

An interesting note here;

When I was using a certain application that can use either OpenGL or DirectX 11: Switching it to the latter made the GPU crash near-directly.

Due to the possibility of it being illegal I hid its name.
