I just found out in a bad way that /ladder was changed.

Quote
Changes May 4 2014
* [Fire system] Due to abuse, ladders can now only be used when there is an active mission.

I found out the hard way a while ago by falling into "The Pit" in San Fierro. For those that don't know what it is, it's this: http://imgur.com/b4eL2mj

I was stuck there for about 5 minutes before fire fighters realized that /ladder was nerf'd. Thankfully Lustig managed to pluck me out of the hole and I repaired his jet and I was on my very way. I was thankful for that because I don't want to wait 30-40 minutes for /ladder to become available just so that I can get out of a god damned hole.

Is there any way /ladder can be readjusted again for fire fighters? Because the way I see it, the recent change is going to lead towards /kill to be abused even more.

Well there are several wrong things on this thing.

First of all. Why does that Pit even exit?

Secondly. Why to nerf something when you can simply create rules about it? The ladders are not only for the missions. Therefor instead of making them exclusive some rules could be made for them. I recall once I saw a guy abusing them and I recorded him. What happent? I was told that he didn't do anythign wrong

The pit was removed in RS4, no idea why it is there now.

/ladder was discussed today and removed so it only can be used whilst there is a mission. The reason why is because it where constantly abused.

I was wondering about that too. But given that it's quite a way from the road, I'm wondering what the player/s would be doing driving so close to a dangerous hole.

Secondly. Why to nerf something when you can simply create rules about it? The ladders are not only for the missions. Therefor instead of making them exclusive some rules could be made for them.

In some cases, proactive enforcement (prevention) is better than reactive enforcement. (damage control) If you applied reactive enforcement to everything, then admin team will be far overloaded with things to take care of.

I do agree that ladders are not only for missions though. Perhaps a compromise of some sort can be reached, such as making ladders auto-return to their trucks after a minute or two.

I recall once I saw a guy abusing them and I recorded him. What happent? I was told that he didn't do anythign wrong

Maybe your definition of "abuse" was not aligned with the actual regulations. Can you tell us exactly what happened?

The pit is a part of the Single player GTA, I don't see what the problem is?
Do people have trouble falling off mountains or off cliffs in real life too for unknown reasons? I don't really know how people "accidentally" fall into the pit.

That'll be nice. At least make the ladders have a 5-10 minute "recharge" time.

Wasn't this pit on the RS4? if yes then how people managed it, I don't think that there was ladder system on the RS4.

Manage it like you did in RS4. :)

The problem is that you can't jump out of it.

It wasn't in RS4, and /ladder didn't exist. If we did get stuck: we had /helpmeup, and if that didn't work, we had to bug an admin until we got unstuck.

Ladders were mis-used, if you want people to blame for the change then look at those who build parkour tracks in the sky or blocking off two lanes of road so those who pass in cars have ladders respawned into their vehicles or simply leaving them floating around outside LSFD.

By teh way in my post I meant "reported" and not recorded. And he was stacking the stairs in the air for no actual reason, just leaving them there. IF that's not an "abuse" then please tell me what is. And yeah I know about the moving vehicles thingy, but is that all?
