About EMS

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are an organization of medical professionals who primarily respond to and treat medical emergencies outside and inside medical facilities. EMS operates under licensed emergency physicians to deliver the highest level of medical support available outside of a hospital. We are trained to keep critical patients alive by assessing illnesses and injuries and by providing life-sustaining treatment on the scene and during transport to a hospital.

EMS Rank Structure

Chief / Medical Services Chief / Chief of Medical Services

The Chief is the highest rank and has access in all areas. There is only one person under this rank per interstate division. The Chief has the last say, what's right and what's wrong, where needed. The Chief leads EMS but tends to act as more of a consultant to his/her subordinates, an advisor. However, the Chief stands firm and takes charge, giving direct orders where needed but tend to try and rely on their staff instead of involving themselves.

Deputy Chief / Medical Services Deputy Chief / Deputy Chief of Medical Services

The Deputy Chief is the second-highest position in EMS. They make important decisions in San Andreas as the other branches do not have this rank. If the Chief is not available, the Deputy Chief takes on the Acting Chief role. Deputy Chiefs have the same rights as the Chiefs while still under the Chief's command. However, Deputy Chiefs are entrusted within the department and do the same duties as the Chief.

EMS Commander

EMS Commanders are third in charge of the SAEMS and are the first rank to be introduced to the AREMS High Command. They make important decisions in their assigned branch. If the Chief and Deputy Chief are not available, the Captain is assigned emergency powers as Acting Chief until the Chief or the Deputy Chief return. This rank is the equivalent of an Assistant Chief. Commanders also participate in and maintain cross-departmental collaboration with interstate agencies such as FBI, SAFD and any other operational state emergency services.

Captain / Medical Captain

The Captain is the fourth highest position in EMS and is the first rank in EMS Command. They make important decisions in the server they are assigned to. Captains also participate in and maintain cross-departmental collaboration with interstate agencies such as FBI, SAFD, and any other operational fire/medical services.

Paramedic

Paramedics are veterans of the department, having served a long time, having good roleplay skill and medical knowledge, as well as demonstrating leadership capability on the field. EMT's who are dedicated to EMS and are always trying their hardest will earn this rank. They are also a supervisory rank and have authority over field units as a coordinator and leader in most situations when they're the highest ranked paramedic on-scene.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Emergency Medical Technicians are trained in basic medical work. They are graduates of the EMS Academy and are considered full members of the service. These members make up the backbone of the department.

Ambulance Trainee

These members are members of EMS but not yet fully trained. They are closely watched in conduct and behavior. These members are just beginning in EMS.

EMS PRESS RELEASE
29/06/2019

At 16:40 CET, EMS was tasked with a patient diagnosed with post-traumatic epilepsy. A clot had formed in the brain, causing pressure to rise and rise.

Chief Kowalski instantly noticed the unusual readings on the machine and knew that quick thinking was needed, or the patient would die. Kowalski grabbed a surgical drill, surgical gloves and examined the X-Ray of the patient's brain, to find the clot. He then began drilling into the patient's skull down to the clot, and using a syringe, he injected some saline and then used the syringe to extract the clot, saving the patient's life.


Operation went down at All Saints General Hospital (Market, LS)

Medication was prescribed to the patient and he was able to go home after a few days.

A paramedic isn't an EMS veteran. It's someone qualified with Advanced Life Support, and he has the rights to administer medicine through veins, use the LifePak, do Chest Needle Decompression and et cetera. Seeing this bugs me but good luck.

OPEN DAY
EMS have decided, in order to improve our public relations, to have an Open Day for the citizens! The Open Day schedule is as follows:

• Ceremony: Opening Speech by Chief Kowalski (5 Minutes)
• Ceremony: Speech by Captain Jennifer Ethel (5 Minutes)
• Ceremony: Promotions
• A tour of the hospital, it's surgery rooms, and it's equipment housing
• A tour of the ambulances, it's equipment, and a ride in the ambulance.
• A discussion about EMS, it's services, and how to join.

This open day will be hosted on the 31st of August 2019 at 14:00 CEST (2:00 PM CEST)

EMS PRESS RELEASE
20/04/2020

A callout came in by Firefighter Nick Silva regarding a fire in Blueberry. From the All Saints General Hospital, EMS Chief Kowalski and Ambulance Trainee Barry Thorne (Big_Bear) immediately mobilized as HAWK-1, an EMS aerial rescue and response team. Using the highly advanced EMS Raindance helicopter, the two paramedics flew from metropolitan Los Santos to the rural town of Blueberry in Red County where Firefighter Silva was busy suppressing fires.

A young woman (her identity which remains undisclosed) in her twenties was found lying unconscious and burned in the back of the store that was on fire. Chief Kowalski immediately ordered a mobile stretcher from the helicopter, which Trainee Thorne rolled out with very quick response time. In the meantime, the Chief delivered a rescue breath and restored the woman's breathing, immediately rolling her onto the stretcher after that with Firefighter Silva and Trainee Thorne. Once she was secure in the helicopter, Chief Kowalski took off. Mid-way, some high-flow oxygen was provided in order to keep the woman alive.


The woman was treated at All Saints General Hospital (Market, LS)

She pulled through and is going to be okay, thankfully.

After a discussion with SAFD leadership and over-checking SAMP EMS activity, SAMP HQ has decided to merge these two Government services. SAFD is accepting transfer into their Medics division. We are thankful to Chief Kowalski for his service in the EMS group.
