Law Enforcement
Introduction

Many things changed within the law enforcement scripts from RS5.1 to RS5.2 and this guide will go through them all. But firstly before going into too much detail we should start with the basics and progress to the new features later on, as a result this guide will be quite extended however for players which wish to understand more how law enforcement works within Argonath this guide will benefit you, but also players which just want to know what changed regarding law enforcement in RS5.2

ARGONATH RPG POLICE DEPARTMENT

The structure of the ARPD is simple and at the same time complicated. But the first thing you should know is that every player who dresses up in the blue colour is regarded as law enforcer. This brings advantages, but it also brings responsibility.

Argonath is a RPG server. This means that when you play, you are using your imagination to play an invented character, based on existing or non-existing characters. We are one of the few serrvers who believe in freedom of play, meaning that everyone can go on duty and become a law enforcer, or cop as they are often referrred to.

Contrary to what you may see elsewhere, there are no scores on Argonath. You do not get a score for fining, suspecting, jailing or killing criminals. On the contrary, you can have fun without doing any of that. A constant pattern of finding people to suspect, jail or kill will get boring, and the intention is to fight the boredom by doing the unexpected. Remember that for role play all you need is imagination, and the best way is to add some humour in to it.

When you look around you will see that we operate a number of servers, and ARPD has a representation on all of them. Every server has its own department, and every department has its own rules.

You are never obliged to be registered here, or to be accepted in to any of the departments to play as law enforcer.
When you wish to dedicate most if not all your time to work as law enforcer, joining one of the departments is what you should do. When becoming a cadet, and later officer or higher you have to give up some freedom. The departments have more strict regulations as just trying to act like a cop, they require you to follow stricter guidelines and procedures.  This is not for all, but those who know a little about real cop work will actually enjoy it.  And once you have acquired the knowledge and training, you might aim for one of the special divisions where you can use special weapons and tactics.

How do I go on police duty?

Firstly before going anywhere you need a passport to go on police duty. Have a passport already? Great, what you need to do is head to the closest PD, such as the Los Santos Police Department. You will find a star icon, stand on it and the police test will start once you complete the test you'll be given the rank of freecop. You can now go on police duty, but be careful follow all the police rules and regulations (/help police) or you might get cop banned.

Not happy with the freecop rank?

Well, luckily for you the San Andreas Police Department exists. The SAPD has many objectives and divisions, you can find more information regarding the SAPD on the SAPD Public Relations topic.

As the main law enforcement workforce in the state of San Andreas, the San Andreas Police Department consistently strives to maintain, preserve and enhance public safety, to effectively contribute in the diminishment of crime, to defeat disorder. In order to achieve this supreme objective, the employees of the San Andreas Police Department continuously impose themselves with integrity, reverence, and pride under the departmental slogan 'The first and last: to serve and protect'.

SPECIAL WEAPONS AND TACTICS

SWAT is there to provide the law enforcement agencies of the United States of Argonath with a highly trained team that is ready to respond to high risk situations that regular units can't deal with. The role of SWAT is to effectively destroy any threat as a team without causing any harm to civilians or property. SWAT is here to assist other ARPD organizations such as the SAPD and FBI with heavy and tactical support in various situations, including:

-Hostage Rescue
-Riot Control
-Raids
-Special Event Security
-Dangerous Criminal Engagement
-Terrorism
-Neutralizing dangerous criminals and organizations

To become apart of SWAT you must show that you are someone who is; active, disciplined, hard-working and able
to show a great deal of leadership.

There is no formal application to join SWAT as it requires an invitation. Asking SWAT members for an invitation will only lower your chances.

FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION

The Argonath Federal Bureau of Investigation is an official establishment under the honorable President Gandalf and Prime Minister Aragorn. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is an organization of top level intelligence and law enforcement power to bring those who violate the Argonath constitution to justice. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is a fact gathering organization, using advanced technologies and managed by our highly and skillfully trained agents to gather evidence and combat against criminals and criminal organizations. The Bureau works closely with other local law enforcement departments such as the SAPD to bring criminals to justice, however the bureau is independent from the Argonath RPG Police Department. A more detailed view can be found here.

Spoiler for Hiden:

Academy
The Academy is the first division you will face as you apply for the FBI. Firstly, all the members of the FBI ranked Agent+ will evaluate your application and will conduct various checks on you to make sure you meet the requirements to join the FBI. Once your application has been evaluated and all the requirements are met, we will invite you for an interview. In the interview, you will be asked various questions about your life in Argonath, interests, hobbies and so on. Then follows another round of evaluations to your answers. Once everybody evaluated your answers, you will be notified by a private message on our website stating if you were accepted or not. If you are accepted, you will be an Academy Cadet, and will not immediately become an official member of the FBI. You will have to work your way up to reach that position. As an Academy Cadet, you will be given an exam with basic questions about Law Enforcement and the Constitution. It will show us if you are actually ready to join the FBI or still need additional experience. If that exam is passed, then you become a Field Cadet, and will actually perform duties with official FBI members. In other case, if your application was denied, you will have to wait for the specific time that the Chief of Academy stated in the private message and apply again.

To submit an application, follow these simple steps:
1) Read this topic: (CLICK ME)
2) Read this topic: (CLICK ME)
3) Read this topic: (CLICK ME)
4) Fill up this form and submit it (CLICK ME)
Note: you will not be able to see your application once it's submitted, so be careful as you fill it up and check thrice before submitting it.

Law Enforcement
RS5.2 Changes

Now that you know the key points and the organisation of law enforcement within the Argonath SA:MP community, we can talk about what has changed. The police script was re-visited and its core was updated fixing many bugs and problems as well as making it possible to add new features to the police script. First thing you may notice while going on duty is that, unless you are a member of a law enforcement group your nametag will now be light blue. That means that you hold the rank of freecop, also known as a volunteer. For those who are part of a law enforcement group you'll notice that your nametag will remain as dark blue, but not only that you have the ability to use /taser. You can hold a maximum of 5 taser uses, you can get taser uses by using the command /rearm taser at any police department.

Where are the police vehicles?

While leaving the police department the first thing you'll ask yourself is-.. where are the cruisers at? Now, thanks to Dylan all the law enforcement vehicles around Pershing are stored in virtual garages. To get a vehicle simply head towards the LSPD garage and a checkpoint will appear simply type /enter and you will be teleported inside the garage where all the police vehicles will be, keep in mind they still have to be re-spawned after use. Only government vehicles are allowed inside department garages.

SAPD side-groups missing?

Yes, they are missing and no it's not a bug. Groups such as "High Speed Interception" or "Marine Unit" were removed. Now instead they are permissions separate from the group system; The SAPD Detective Bureau and SAPD Command vehicles are now connected to the SAPD group. As a result, you do not need to belong to a large sum of groups; do keep in mind that restricted vehicles will remain restricted to those who do not have access.

Miscellaneous:
Radio changes:
-Ranks are now shown before your name on the police radio and emergency radio.
-The emergency radio now gives mayors the possibility to communicate with emergency services.

Megaphone:
-Megaphone has been given a bright yellow color, making it more outstanding.

Car-signs:
-Government vehicles can now have car signs to be easily identified.

          Copbans:
- When you click on a copban you will receive a new dialog with full information about the copban such as banned by, reason, expire date & time, unbanned by, unban reason and unban date & time.
- Many bugs fixed.

UC List:
- /uclist command shows everyone who's online and has UC rights as well as their agency.

Tolls:
- High ranking law members are now able to lock tolls for a short amount of time.

MDC Changes:

The MDC has received a few changes which will help law enforcers in their duties. The main change which will save various law enforcer's lives is the panic button which will be equipped to every officer's radio and MDC. This feature will reduce the amount of officers being kidnapped and will alert every law enforcer on duty through the central dispatch. You can use it through the MDC or by typing the command. (/rpanic)

Another feature which was added was the ability to create APB Warrants. This will create an easier environment to apprehend suspects which managed to evade law enforcers before a suspection was put into place. Not only that it can also be used for officers to be on look out for missing citizens, or missing vehicles.

Much more was added, however I'll not spoil your fun and will leave it for you to explore.
