Hi,

I have noticed since i got Windows 10 that this process keeps popping at regular intervals of 2 minutes (or around that) for like 10-15 seconds sometimes reaching the 25% (It never goes above that though) of cpu usage thus causing some random overheating and preventing the laptop from going to standby (sometimes). I've tried googling, looking at forums and whatever but i still haven't found a fix for it. I've ran a scan with MalwareBytes a few days ago, there is no any infected programm or shit like that, so i really do not know what it could be. /help pls

SPPSVC is Software Protection Platform Service. You can try the steps with the task scheduler outlined here

Disabling it means that my copy of Windows 10 won't be activated and other services might get in conflict, so nope. I already tried restarting the service though.

It should not be causing the CPU to overheat at 25% usage, the fan kicking in is not due to overheating, more-so just a feature of active cooling.

Saying that, it shouldn't be using 25%. It's plausible that whilst the PC is not being used, the processor underclocks (my i5 can be anywhere between 800MHz at idle, and 3.2GHz under load), and it's possible that the "25%" is referring to 25% of the capacity of the CPU whilst not under load.

How is it stopping the laptop going to sleep?

It overheats because this potato runs hotter than it should even listening to music :D anyway i have noticed that even if i set the laptop to sleep after 45 minutes it doesn't work so i associated this behaviour to the process, maybe it is not.
It's pretty annoying to hear the fan going at higher speed for some seconds every minute for some seconds, i saw that some people solved it by uninstalling non legit copy of Office (basically it keeps checking license validation even tho it's not open) which i tried but didn't work, and it's the only non legit program i got.
Any idea? I don't want to reinstall everything again.
