False. I can open it just fine, and using a windows XP.

Well I really meant the word version. Not all windows XP users have the same Word version as vista users.
Perhaps you can save the newspaper in a regular (older) word version?

Maybe you mean Office 2007... You can download from another link .doc file and it will work fine.
