Click on the little speaker icon (for Windows XP) in the taskbar located at the bottom right of your screen if you're a noob on Windows XP. Then click advanced and make sure everything has a 'tick' on it, then make sure the volume of your 'Line In' or Microphone' is turned up and then you should start hearing yourself. I'm only doing this off the top of my head because I use my creative software to configure my sound card.

ok, but the only checkable box's are the mute button's. do you mean click those?
and yes, im a noob on some things of a PC
