Good Officer's Guide
Hi, Officer Mr_Bland wants to share some of his tips with you guys! This is my first wall of text, so bear with me.
first off...
Ask them to surrender first! you can do so by using /m <text> or /s <text>and when talking to a person, use
/l <text>
Note: use these for RPG situations
When I say /su that is the same /suspect
/d for private police chat
SuspectingOk, the basic thing needed to be a successful Argonath cop.
- /su - this is the main command /su <ID> reason
NOTE: use this command responsibly; misuse can get you in major trouble! the admins are always watching :trust:
- /crime - Used to find out what offense a player has performed /crime <ID>
NOTE: this can also come in handy for checking if an offense is "eligible" (ex "Farting in public" would be abuse.)
If someone starts saying "OMFG noob cops thats abuse ffs!" use /id <full name> and do /crime <ID> to see their crime, and determine if it is permissible. if not, use /cancelsuspect <ID> <reason>
Here is a list of crimes that are okay to use /su for
- Hit and Run
- Assault
- Grand theft auto (not the game  )
- If you can think of more, please tell me
Here are some crimes that are sometimes ok to /su for if they are advertising it (/ad)
- Drug dealing
- If you can think of more, please tell me
Note: If someone advertises for being a hitman, I personally think you should not /su them unless they make a hit, and even then, there is no need, as they will be auto-suspected for murder.
And crimes that are
not ok to /su for
- Driving without a license -Jcstodds
- anything stupid
You can try to issue fines for some petty crimes, but just TRY to RP with people. It isn't cops ans robbers. see someone stranded- help them out. -Jcstodds
Also note that if you /su by a player's name it will automatically default to ID 0 and if you know this happened, immediately /cancelsuspect so they will not have to deal with a crime they did not perform.
Another note: the ID of the player is next to their name in parentheses in the HUD (heads up display)
:ps: if you see no HUDs, use F10 to enable them
PursuitOK, pursuit, perhaps the most frustrating part of a officers job.
Foot PursuitProbably the hardest of the two types of pursuit.
on foot, your best bet is to use your baton/night stick if they are running. so you can run and swing simultaneously.
If the suspect refuses to surrender, and gets in a car, DO NOT shoot the car, shoot out the tires first! this way they will spin out of control and will crash easier, and it also saves time, and conserves ammo.
If the suspect is armed and shooting you, I THINK it gives you the right to shoot back.
Admins please correct me if I am wrong! If they are players who don't lag, I suggest you use the Desert Eagle. But, if they do lag, use a shotgun if you have one.
One last thing, if the person you are chasing stops all of the sudden, DON'T shoot them. only aim at them. Why? Because they may be typing /handsup or "I surrender" etc... but, if they start to run you already have them in you sights, so you can easy bust a cap in their ass!
Vehicle pursuitOh god this guide is getting boring to write...
Anyway, In a car, you can easily ram a suspect off the road if you shot out their tires earlier.
PIT Maneuver (Precision Immobilization Technique) this is a well known technique that police use. this is where an officer rams in the rear wheel area, which causes the suspect to spin out.
:ps: For the pit maneuver you have to aim for the front of the car because of the lag. -Jcstodds
Drive by, it gets annoying, what I do is stay a little bit further behind the suspect than normal, so the suspect has a hard time hitting you from that distance, and just wait till they wipe out, and if they have a sub machine gun, I suggest you call for back up!
Air SupportLast, Air Support. basically just needed to get units to high places, to other areas quickly, and is useful to follow criminals at night (H/caps lock turns on the spotlight)
Being air support is low paid but is fun and helpful. You need a) a good pilot and b) a good copilot. The copilot does all the talking on the radio and responds to calls, whilst the pilot can concentrate on flying. The helicopter is a good fast response unit which can land near the target quickly. The copilot and passengers can get out and immobilize/arrest the suspect. (Pilot should remain in and ready liftoff).
Also another objective of a heli pilot is to rescue any stranded players :P -Jcstodds
The co-pilot is a high requirement if not using ts.
Its speed isnt the best as some cars and bikes can outrun it, however a good pilot can often judge the route and shortcut.
As for lifts I have given many even to civilians, however on at last 2 occasions the cop I gave a lift too actully went and 'Cajacked' me (a least that what the big words on screen said, I get killed and conseqently lose the chopper...).
This last item is certainly a discouragement against giving lifts to anyone I dont know, whether they cops or civilian. - CBFASI
Don't shoot and hijack other police, and don't lock and abandon cop cars (or they wont re-spawn, and when they do they'll be locked) -Jcstodds
TeamspeakDon't have time to type under fire? Have fingers that are too fat?
