I'm not sure this is the right place to put it, but it's the closest thing I could find so please bare with me.  I got a new laptop (Intel Pentium dual core 2.4ghz, Windows 7 64bit).  Now I'm trying to connect to samp and I have everything installed correctly.  When I press the start button in the SAMP menu, the hourglass shows up for about 10 seconds, then disappears and nothing happens.  So when I try to press the start button again, it says the program crashed.  This is when I checked the processes under task manager and see that gta_sa.exe is running after the first time I hit the start button under the SAMP menu.  I've tried running both samp.exe and gta_sa.exe in administrator mode and it hasn't worked, but when I run gta_sa.exe by itself in administrator mode, it tells me that the program has crashed.

If anyone has any information to help me out and fix this, I would really appreciate it, because this computer is faster and will help me out better when patrolling.

All Thanks,

TheKeg/Randall Ceasar

  • Reinstall GTA SA
  • Remove any mods you may have
  • Make sure you get the newest version of SA:MP from their site.
  • Check to see if 64bit 7 is supported for SA:MP

LOL
I LOL because I JUST had this problem. And I JUST fixed it.

Here's the thing...
For some reason, SAMP or whatever fucking HATES some names.

Here's what I did:

1) Create a new user account with the following details
User name: gta
Password: a
A password is required to use Run as different user.
2) HOLD shift and RIGHT CLICK on your SAMP executable.
3) You should see "Run as different user." Click it. NOTE: You will NOT see it if you did not hold shift before-hand
4) Type in your user name for the account you made (preferably gta) and the password (a).
5) Hit enter, Ok, or whatever.
6) Profit.

I have a windows 7 64bit laptop as well, with dual core (AMD, 2.2ghz).

I have never heard someone who had problem with GTA:SA on Windows 7, I have runned windows 7 since the first beta came.

Of course it was alot of buggs those days but not now. Windows 7 still have some parts missing from the XP versions who we were comfortable with in the past.

Get used to not have them.

With windows 7 don't you just need to run it as administrator?
Or I think ging to GTA SA User Files and deleting GTA_SET.SET would help

How dare you to flame Windows 7? I'm running it on 64Bit version and I never had problems.
