Some questions.

I've heard of this server several times on SA:MP and how cool it would be, ofcourse as a human beeing i need to check that out! just some questions before i get banned without even playing (yes this actually happened for the reason i'm going to ask):
1. Do i need a real RP name like: Hannah_Montana (this won't be my name)
2. Again, everyone talks about Metagaming, still not sure what it is!
3. Copping, can you play as cop, or will this be considerd as freecopping wich is bannable?
4. In most roleplaying, killing without a clear reason is not allowed. i get this! but if you're like a gang, and want to assasinate someone, is it better to ask an admin about this matter?

1. You don't need to have a RP name. Here it's choseable. For example, my nickname here is ZeRoX.
2. Dunno really what is that.
3. Nah, freecopping isn't banable, but people here just dislike it.
4. Hmmm, If you RP it, then its okay. For example, /me plants a bomb under "Someone's" car.

I'll give you an example of metagaming. For example. I see a player my character never seen before. I also see his name on screen. I call him by his name but my character doesn't know the name. Another example. You see in main chat (that has nothing to with RP) someone is saying bank is being robbed. Your character haven't gotten the info on your police radio, but you go there responding to a crime. Basically meta gaming is using stuff that your character doesn't know in role play.

You can play as a cop, and utilise the general scripts/features available to their fullest.
Being a cop, or part of police is not a "must" in any way, or a "don't".

Over this side, a freecop is pretty much someone that is not part of an (or the) official police group. You can consider it a bit like being a freelance, although you wouldn't see such in real life.
It's not dislikable either, or frowned upon in relation to other roles. It would be up to the individual who/what they want to roleplay within Argonath's realms.

You may wish to take a look at the ARPD/VCPD specific forum areas from there.

So long as it is within roleplay (and not just one sided or forced), it should be allowed.
You simply can't break a rule in the name of roleplay, however.

Hopefully our current guides - which are actually in the process of an update - will see you through.

The Admin Team would not ban someone immediately in most cases, and especially if you are unfamiliar with the server, community and its rules. You are very welcome to ask questions or seek help.

Thanks guys, all replies were useful! Zerox, legend and perry. Sadly, i checked the server. Found out no one was online! got any tips for time to come on? (i live +1 GMT).

I just saw your reply. Why don't you come online now, a couple of us are there.

We can't say we are massive in terms of player count, but the server does generally have a fair number of people around the clock. It has a very homely feel at least. ^.^
Maybe try out the mid-GMT time zones and evening as well - almost always there's a group of people playing around abouts then.

You are free to use any name to identify yourself, provided it is not already taken by someone else or prohibited.

"Metagaming" is a concept from "Serious RP Servers" on SA:MP that does not exist on Argonath. Disregard anyone who tries to teach or indoctrinate you into following it.

Anyone is free to choose to play as a Cop. Report anyone who tries to provoke / discriminate you for doing such.

Controversial topic. It's always best to seek Admin advice on the matter, since players tend to blur the line (if not cross it altogether) between deathmatching and roleplay gang conflicts.
