The use of reward and gifts cards at GAME was suspended when the company went into administration on Monday. As soon as it did hundreds of stores were closed and thousands of jobs were lost.
Things are looking increasingly brighter for those stores that remain though, with current rumours suggesting the company could be brought out of administration tomorrow, following the acceptance of a buyout from RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland).

Although other sources claim that a counter offer from the owner of Comet is also being considered.

That's all still just rumour at the moment, but reactivating reward cards is definitely happening, according to Twitter posts from GAME themselves.

'Reward Card Update 1: Your Reward Cards have now been reactivated by the Administrators for redemption against pre-owned stock,' said the first post.

'Reward Card Update 2: This means that points can be earned on all products AND redeemed against pre-owned items as of now,' added the second.
What's also encouraging is that the use of reward cards is also now mentioned on GAME's website. The site still isn't open for business but again this seems a positive sign that it might be returning soon.
A full list of all 211 GAME stores that survived the closures can be found here.

So GAME could be making a return thanks to the support of RBS, what do you guys think to this ?

GameStation is owned by the Game company.

Yes I am fully aware of that fact.

The list you provided (the Metro) states that the store closed down is at 18 Newlands Centre - That is the Game store, not Gamestation whereas the Game site says this is still oopen and Gamestation is closed.

I never liked GAME.
I always thought it was a bit tacky, especially there "pre-owned" range
What business would encourage people to use something perfectly fine until they're satisfied completely and then offer to buy it back, especially something that would probably be succeeded or grow out of fashion.

Now if they had also sold Smart Phones, Computers, Tablets and so on they'd probably be in with a chance.

However I don't see why RBS is looking to take on this huge risk.
It still owes me money and no one likes when your money is jeopardized multiple times, they're better off making their own online games site or purchasing stocks in a successful one.

Only thing I ever bought from GAME was a Nintendo SD and a PC copy of Age of Empires. OOH OOH and PS2. But yea back then GAME was the go to place for game consoles.

I had never even heard of this company, or it's stores until I read this topic, and after spending less than 10 minutes of researching what happened, I am simply disgusted. Thousands of jobs lost because a company failed to keep control over it's finances, all because they didn't initiate any previous attempts to get more customers. I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate companies that, even when failing, refuse to take action until it's too late. I worked for one for my first job for two years, and if they hadn't been bought out just a month after I quit due to an extreme lack of pay and hours with heavily increased responsibilities, the company would've gone down the drain...because it's parent company didn't care and just wanted to make as much money as possible before walking away.

I wish GAME the best of luck, and I hope that they will finally catch on to their mistakes and pick up from where they left off to resolve them, and hopefully rehire many of those who are now unemployed for something that wasn't even their fault.

In my opinion, it's one thing if you try and your company fails. It happens from time to time, and there's not much you can do about it...but if your company fails because you decide to wait months to take action, and thousands of people's lives are ruined because of this laziness, then I honestly believe the person in charge should lose every damn cent they made at the company, and have it go back to those who are now jobless.

It's so upsetting seeing the world's economy collapse like this because people just couldn't control their greed for a piece of threaded paper...

Hope they go for it. Right now all the other game stores in the United States are gone...including FunkyLand, which GameStop bought out years ago. Would be nice to see the two come together to save both companies from death and bring back all those lost jobs.

Unsure if a monopoly in such a market is a good thing.

Do not roleplay a veteran on discord, be a veteran in game.

It's usually not, but the reason why I'm seeing it as a plus for the U.S. and U.K. is because they are the only two major survivors left. It's a market that is slowly dying because of digital sales online and through consoles now. Even my aunt's bf, who runs a very large video game store out of a flea market, has been suffering...and these are people that could barely afford the consoles themselves, let alone digital copies of games online, assuming they can even afford internet access to begin with.

There used to be another major competitor named GameCrazy, which was owned by Hollywood Video in the United States, but again, the market tanked and they died off with it. This, in addition to the same scenario causing movie rental stores to shut down, Hollywood Video itself died off too.

I don't want to see a monopoly in the markets, but if it will save the markets themselves from ceasing to exist, then better they come together now and stand strong so that the other markets will pop up later when someone gets angered and leaves the company in due time

If you're one of those making money from it, then it will be.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.
