So, I have been recording SA:MP and other games for the last year at 60FPS, Full Size with  no problems, last week all of a sudden my fraps is lowering my frame rate to 3 - 8 FPS! I thought it was a CPU useage issue but when I play GTA SA my CPU usage only get to around 7 percent max.....

Anyone know a fix for this? I tried re-installing fraps but same issue.. I have had no issue with normal IF Framerates so its fraps for certain.

PC Specs?

Installed any automatic updates? Drivers?

Any new hardware added to the machine?

Try using an external HDD to record the video straight onto. Otherwise the HDD is having to read game files at the same time as writing 60 files a second onto the same HDD.

When I had this issue, it was either because Fraps was trying to record to the same hard drive that the game was running on, or because it was trying to record to a rather full and/or fragmented hard drive. Recording through USB to my external HD solved the issue completely.

If you don't have an external, then you might try a USB stick or something, even if just for a few seconds to help diagnose the issue.

Update your drivers, check which Codec Fraps is using, check teh FPS fraps is set to, update the codec fraps is using, update fraps, get a new codec, use a better program

I use Dxtory because i hate how fraps makes things laggggggggg, i have a high powered PC, but im used to high FPS, any major loss in FPS makes gaming hard for me, Dxtory doesnt seem to affect the FPS at all, plus is overall a better and more advanced program.

Hooked up an external and its back working like a charm. Cheers
