Hello guys,

I am starting a business in SA:MP and plan to host my own forums. My problem is, I haven't the money to buy a domain. I have decided to host a web server to help in the expenses. I do not have a DNS manager though, so I have to post my IP here. This can raise alarm of course as it can be seen as advertising. I was wondering if I, the business owner, can host a web server and post my IP without being banned from any servers or community banned.

Call me crazy but professionalism is my priority. I tried dot.tk. Pissed me off because I could never get their DNS stuff right.

Why would you buy a domain for a server-group? Something could go wrong and have it shut down by HQ or anything.. Just get a free-host-forum etc ;)

Community? Seriously? Server-group? Someone has got to be pulling my leg here... :trust:

Also, I am much to advanced to use a free-host-forum. I like to use my own bought/in-house hosted server and load WordPress for my main site, and SMF for forums (if needed). If anybody thinks that I am trying to make a server-group/comunity by doing this, please, leave this topic and never come back.  :out:

No, I wasn't talking about you making a new server.. I just said, why register a domain for a group in a server(here), whilst something can go wrong in the near future.. like for example you get bored and close the group/business down etc :).

I am hosting it MYSELF. If I had permission, I could use m IP instead of a domain name. If I was rich and had  DNS server, then I would not have made this thread.

Windows Server comes with a DNS server, you'll have to deploy it and know how to set it up, and Linux has alternatives if you use Linux hosting.

Actually, as I type, I already am installing Ubuntu Server and now I am installing the GUI. The thing is that to use DNS you need 2 static IPs. I only have one, so that basically takes it out of the question.
