Rumors are still rumors nonetheless, either way I doubt anyone else other than people living near that region actually cares about this whole issue. And in Pakistan its doubtful it will ever be revealed as a hoax, so nothing much will change if it comes true.

The thing is, the northern areas of Pakistan are constantly bombed by US drone fighters, so the people there are rather sympathetic with the Taliban cause, but such an incident, like the shooting of an innocent girl from that particular area, is rather extreme, and turns those people against them as well, so the next time, they won't be so willing to conceal them or help them in any way.
