Why print a gun? Its like $1,000+ for the printer when you can get a much more decent weapon for that price. Pathetic.

You're forgetting that these kinds of weapons aren't legal everywhere, and there are many, many restrictions on them in many places nationally, as well as worldwide. The point of this is to grant availability to anyone who feels they are having their weapons rights stepped on by the Government, and should be allowed to own one.

Why not get proper weapons? Like stated, metal detection, and in the long run it would be practically free to create these weapons.
Just a 1 time investment for the printer and sometimes the materials is neccessary.

And of course, these are not meant to headshot a target hundreds of meters away or to last 10 years, but they can kill with ease.

Most of them would go for the real thing first. If they want to cause damage, they'll want something that can support automatic or semi-automatic gunfire.
