A person named William Liddiard has put self-manufactured wheel of his Toyota Echo that allows the car to move in the vertical direction. He calls his creations for Liddiard Wheels and according to him , they can be put in virtually any car you want.

The wheels are only prototypes right now and Liddiard hoping to sell them to something bigger company so they can begin to be used for commercial purposes.

Interesting concept, but if a company really wanted to do this, then surely to have bearings + rollers on the rims would actually make it a liability.

Would be easier to have a second set of wheels under the car which are sideways, which can be lowered so the car can "jack up" onto the new set of wheels. Neat concept though!

Would make buying tyres interesting, if a bit was worn you could turn the tyre and use a new bit!

I am late to this party, but this would be far too expensive for Mass Production. These are interesting and would be a great addition to show cars, and everyday usage but would be expensive raising prices of vehicles from lets say $10,000 to manufactre (sold for $20,000 probably) to 15,000$ causing a huge up for them making a car that can be $20,000 a $35,000 car due to the rarity and exclusiveness of this. This is a good idea but this will not be made for a few years, Just like Tesla cars are the "Green" alternative, they are not, Tesla uses oil and non renewable sources so much you may as well get a petrol car. As much as I appreciate new inventions, I feel they should stay in research for now because they are capable of more harm than good at the moment, Imagine this breaking down on a highway.
