G'day.

Recently my computer started crashing in bizarre ways which are connected with - that's right - BSOD of whole computer.

The multitude of crashes are, for some odd reason, random. Every time there's a different code, which nails into a different problem. For a more precise analysis I would need my crash dump files!

The fuck?

How do I get them to appear if ITS EVEN PUT IN THERE FOR THEM TO LOG.

P.S. In BSOD messages the message about crash dump is written does appear.

Run a magnet over your hard drive, it will defragment it and then refragment it. Only problem is you'll need a fairly large magnet to accomplish it in one pass, however.

After I ran a magnet over my hard drive my PC pulled another BSOD. Is it safe to do so?
Less than a minute of googling and...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/21f24b77-a80b-4cc3-8b86-8779ed824c17/memory-dump-files-not-generated-after-bsod
http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/218837-bsods-not-saving-minidumps-multiple-0x9f-crashes.html

Start by checking them.
1st link didn't give a valid solution.
2nd link see above
3rd link already seen it, ran memtest fine with no issues whatsoever. Might be my HDD is defunct?

Great plan, if you wish to corrupt all of your data.

When last have you moved your PC around? Or knocked it? It could be down to something as simple as dust between the socket and the Ram stick causing a BSOD.

2 months ago. Guess I should try cleaning it.

Have you had any luck with it or still getting BSODs?

Is the dump ostensibly completing according to the BSOD text, or does the actual BSOD crash itself (like with my old PC)?

No, I tried some other solution, now waiting patiently for another BSOD.

Yea I'd get a BSOD, it would get halfway through the dump and then just freeze.
It was pretty good.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -- SYSTEM -- CurrentControlSet -- Control -- CrashControl

Delete the folder in the registry, add a new one with this:

Code: [Select]
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl]
"AutoReboot"=dword:00000001
"CrashDumpEnabled"=dword:00000003
