My friend has a HP laptop and he can receive much more wireless net than me(mine is an LG).
For example, today we were side by side, he was receiving from 3 routers all with full reception, I was only getting 2 and with half reception.

How can I maximize the reception?

Yeah, but I want to make sure that it is better than my default on-board card.

just check the HP website and/or google the model and it should be there, and then compare your On-board card to a newer one.

:ps: go linksys, they have Fantastic equipment, never failed me.
