Jennie Stone, 28, was killed when Rosie-Ann crashed her  Vauxhall Astra into Jennie’s silver Peugeot 206 in February last year.

A prosecutor told Hull Crown Court today that Rosie-Ann had pulled out of slow moving traffic on the A165 in East Yorkshire to move in front of a DAF lorry.

It is alleged that she did not look over her shoulder to check anyone was there. She is accused of killing her sister through careless driving.

This is the second tragedy to hit the family in as many years after the pair’s brother Private Gregg Stone was killed in Afghanistan in a rescue mission.

Jonathan Sharp said: "Her [Jennie’s] car veered back to the correct side of the road, in front of the lorry, and then it went off the road.

"There it ran into a tree at the roadside. The impact was very great and the car was badly damaged. Sadly, Jennie sustained multiple injuries and was killed.

"The young driver who pulled out without looking is the defendant, Rosie-Ann Stone.

"It is right you know at the outset of this case that the other driver who died was, by tragic coincidence, the defendant's elder sister, Jennie Stone."

Rosie-Ann had spent the day helping her sister move house while Jennie had just dropped her son Charlie, then aged nine, at Skipsea Primary School.

She watched a man in front pull out and overtake the slow lorry successfully before attempting the manoevre herself, it is alleged.

But the sisters’ cars collided and Jennie’s was forced in front.

Parents Angie Stone, 56, and father Robert Stone, 56, watched from the public gallery.

Tragedy struck the family in June 2012 when the sisters' brother Private Gregg Stone was shot dead in Afghanistan.

Her late brother, Private Stone, of the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, was shot dead as he took part in a mission to rescue an Afghan policeman in Helmand Province.

The young soldier, who had been in Afghanistan for less than a month, had been told that his wife Samantha was pregnant with his first child just a few days earlier.

He was shot dead as his task force successfully saved policeman Abdul Walid from insurgents who captured him at a checkpoint.

Private Stone was the 417th member of UK forces to die since operations in Afghanistan began in October 2001.

An inquest found he had been unlawfully killed.

Rosie-Ann Stone denies one charge of causing death by careless driving. The case continues.

Careless driving? Happens every day where I live. :janek:

Either way, it is unacceptable. Jail or none, if the driver has any conscience, then her biggest punishment would be living with herself knowing she killed her sister.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.
